  • Club speed and distance issues

For some reason, my Protee simulator started reading about half the proper clubhead speed. It worked fine for over a year then all the sudden it was almost impossible to reach 100 yards on the range. I thought it was because I changed the lofts (and angles) of the irons so I switched it back to the factory default settings. However, the system is still struggling to accurately read clubhead speed. The only other difference was that I installed a second light above the sensor, but it was working fine with that second light for a few weeks before changing.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I have not seen this type of issue. My club head speed are right there with my Flightscope numbers. When you say second light, is that the light that would go over the putting sensor?
What type of light is it?

Remember protee does not use club head speed to determine ball flight, it uses ball speed (which is calculated using the last sensor row the ball crosses). So your incorrect club head speed and the fact that your ball is only traveling 100 yards are not related. What could be related is that the light you installed is causing both your sensors to read incorrectly, clubhead speed and ball speed. You should post some pics of your set up as well as some shot data that you see these incorrect readings.

I had similar issues with my protee after 5 years with no problems. I would get 1 mph clubhead speeds one day and 160 mph the next, next day my cameras would not detect the ball. Looking back, The problem reared it’s head when I switched to windows 10. Apparently If you don’t have these items disabled your cameras and sensors can get out of wack due to delays in computing speed for the sensors and cams. These 3 changes fixed my issues immediately.
        - make sure your energy scheme in windows 10 cannot disable USB ports.....mine was set to allow this so I assume that is windows default.
        - disable windows firewall
        -disable any antivirus
Once I changed these settings my clubhead speeds and distances were spot on again.

I have changed Windows 10 settings such that the USB ports stay on. I have noticed an improvement in club speed and distance variations. I have not changed any firewall or antivirus settings. It does seem I still see small changes, but nothing beyond a couple percent, so almost in the noise.

If it seems that the speed regardless of club used struggles to show more than 60mph then this can be 3 things.

Update has messed with the driver of the usb to serial adapter if the prolific driver is in use.

Comm port conflict interferes with data being sent.

Usb to serial adaptor may have developed a fault.

The clubspeed is the data affected by the issue and it does have an impact on the distance of the shot
