I'm back again after taking a break from using the sim - the room was temporarily repurposed. I just played my first round in probably 6 months, and while the full swings (up to the wedges) were close to spot on, things started getting weird after...
1. Gap Wedge and Sand Wedge full swings seem to fly a bit too far - probably 7-8 yards more than reality.
2. Half wedge shots fly long - something that I'd hit 50 yards on the course is flying 75 yards.
3. Chip shots are a total guess - it seems like the yardage is generated by a random number generator. I truly have no idea how far these are going. Some will even go only a couple inches on a swing that should go 10-15 yards and taking that same swing again will send the ball 20-25 yards and over the green. I know there's settings to control these and can't find where they are. Seems like they all launch with the same smash factor, which probably isn't right.
4. The green speeds seem quite fast in comparison to my turf, which per the manufacturer runs between a 9 and 10, and that seems about right. I putt from about 7 feet from my screen and on a level putt, something that just hits the screen will go 12-13 feet.
5. The greens seem to be extremely firm - a sand wedge landing in the middle of the green will bounce over - where in real life, even on firm greens, it's not running out more than a few feet and on soft greens, it's coming back.
6. In general, distances are probably a couple percent high. That could be from clean contact indoors or could be the system. How would I change this if I wanted to?
6. I've forgot what the penalties for rough, heavy rough, fairway bunkers, and greenside bunkers are - so I have basically no idea how to adjust the distances.
I know the common advice is that I've got to get used to the sim again - but I'm relatively confident I'm not off by THAT much...
I'd appreciate any and all suggestions to get this system tuned and running well again.
