  • Setting up some winter leauges, need input

Trying to put together ideas for a few winter leagues. I recently started a new business doing golf instruction and club repair, and I'm thinking to use my sim to put together a few leagues. I know some people can't commit to 8-10 weeks, but maybe could do 4-5. I was thinking to do either or both, 2 man and individual. Was thinking 2 man, 9 holes, 5 weeks, wk1 scramble, wk2 best ball, wk3 combined stroke, wk4 alt shot, w5 9 holes closest to the pin. Individual, 18 holes, 5 weeks, not sure about wk1 2 ball scramble, wk2 all par 3's, wk3 closest to the pin (2 shots), wk4 18 holes stoke play. Play for points each week. At the end top team(s) get paid. Thinking $20/ person/ week. $10 pays for golf, $10 into prize pool. Maybe limit to 6 2-man, and 10 individual. I know people can't commit to 8-10 weeks, but maybe shorter could work for some people, and could do a few through the winter for something to do and keep the swing. What do you think? Would you have any input?

    Cheers

So, you have a Protee setup? I play once in a while with a few guys on a local golf sim. They play almost every Monday and Wednesday over the winter, so 8 to 10 weeks may not be an issue at all. These guys play closest to the pins on par 3s and skins over 18 holes. They put in 6 bucks each and split the money up between the closest to the pins and skins.

There is a community on Discord that has 2 man leagues, match play, and other events.

The first league is going well. The way i did this is, each player hits 5 balls with 5 iron to determine the course distance they should play, which in turn determines the tee box they play. ie 5i CARRY distance (5 ball avg.) 176yds x 36 = 6336.

There are two formats. Theses are individual player leagues. The first format is 5 weeks. Wk 1 is 9 hole scramble.
Wk 2 is 9 holes par threes.
Wk 3 is 9 holes closest to the pin.
Wk 4 is drive chip and put.
Drive, each player gets 3 drives (in the fairway to count) the distances are ranked and points awarded.
Chip...each player gets three balls from 25yds, points are awarded by distance.
putt, each player get three balls from 10ft. Total distance from the cup, pionts awarded. Three balls from 20ft, total distance, points are awarded. Three balls from 40ft, total distance, points awarded. Total points tallied for that week.
wk 5 18 holes stroke play. Points awarded based on final score. All stroke play events are 10ft gimmie puts. All players play same course conditions, same pin locations, green stimpnset to 11.

format 2 will be 4 weeks, 18 holes per week.

I intended for it to be in person play, bit had interest from online players as well. If you're interested, email me at pzgolf.shankshack@gmail.com
