  • Happy with your protee system

After my skytrak troubles I felt the need to ask.

I know skytrak should be more accurate since it reads spin numbers. But in general are you satisfied with your protee purchase for a garage simulator type system?

we are looking at starting a winter sim league for about 10 guys at my house.

I was thinking about a protee/TGC package and adding the second camera. Other option is a GC2 but I would like the club data and the price is more then I am interested in really.

    Thanks for your help guys!

Save the agony of going with Skytrak and just go with a gs2. More money but money well spent.

I couldn't be more pleased with ProTee. It's a great option, particularly if any of your friends are leftys or mid-high handicappers (the PT club data is very useful for correcting swing flaws--I've improved my handicap 9 strokes in just a couple of months).

ProTee is a great system. Gives club and ball data and good for lefty/righty. GC2 with TGC is also excellent. Can't go wrong either way.

I spent around 8 hours watching protee videos and reading everything here.

I just ordered one with TGC. Cant wait to start playing instead of testing nonstop.

Congrats. Make sure you set it up well, especially the cameras. Get a remote log on if you have any issues.

              A follow up.
Everything is setup and working great on my protee system. Everyone is extremely impressed with it. I am very happy I made the switch. Setup takes time but is very worth it in the end. Not to mention TGC is so much better then e6. Its not even comparable in my opinion. Hopefully I get on the tour soon and suck it up online with you guys!

Great to hear Ryan. ProTee is a solid system. Come online and play. You can hook up with others, play alone or play against a ghost player. It's a lot of fun watching the leaderboards.

Bubba, I've been looking at gc2 and do not see an option for tgc, only their courses and software. I like gc2 reviews but like the option of tgc courses. New to this so trying to decide on a setup.

After getting a GC2 you can pickup TGC from here https://www.swingsense.com/en/

I'm extremely happy with my Protee. I've had it a over a year and it still looks and plays like the day I opened the box, not one issue. Especially with TGC you can't go wrong with either system. Protee support is the gold standard when/if you ever need them.

As with most, I'm very pleased with my Protee system as well, it takes a while to set up and isn't great on the short wedges, but otherwise it can be tweaked to be VERY accurate on full swings, and the system does allow seamless play with both lefties and righties. On my wish list though would be a low cost LM to integrate with the system to provide ball data to compliment the club data already being generated.

I bought my ProTee a little over a year ago when I refused to buy into the SkyTrak fiasco which has unfolded for all to see.

Absolutely no regrets whatsoever. ProTee is very accurate. My on-screen game, unfortunately is just as bad as my on-course game. That's praise for ProTee. No sugarcoating it.

Just gotta keep working on improving my game.

I didn't realize protee didn't pick up spin but everybody seems happy with it regardless. Does it simulate spin pretty accurately? How is the putting without the rather expensive putting sensor? I see options for 2 cameras and one. Does it make a big difference having the 2? I read above its not good with short pitches or chips?

Vcam is pretty much absolutely necessary. No way for ProTee hardware to read the launch angle of the ball otherwise. You can get away with not having the Hcam, but it's definitely more accurate with it. Spin is fairly close, if maybe a tad high on some clubs, to what it should be. Setting the interface to using Vcam for spin helps a lot with getting better spin numbers and it makes the flow of the game much better when you don't have to match up the club it's set to in game to what you're actually hitting.

Don't get hung up on the "'doesn't read spin", etc.

There's more than one forum thread that deals with "What's better - ball data or club data?"

My take - ProTee is very accurate using it's measured club head and ball data. It's ball data does not include spin but does include launch angle and direction. This information is more than enough to help high handicappers like me who need to know what their clubhead is doing to figure things out. Lower handicappers probably want ball spin because they probably already know what their club is doing.

I think I will pull the trigger on a protee system for a few reasons. Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems like it would be one of the, if not the most accurate system for picking up chips and putts, even without the very expensive putting sensor. If anybody has the putting sensor, I would very much like input on whether it is worth over a thousand. Putting and chipping is very important to me in a simulator. For instance what fun would Augusta be without putting. It is also of course cheaper than the gc2 and seems to integrate with tgc better Since it was made by the same company. It does look like it's more difficult to set up and I would like to know if a 10 wide, 10 high, 16 deep area is sufficient for their camera system. I have tried to read through everything on here and this seems to be a reasonable option. I got a good price on the whole system including screen, computer, and projector from chip at spectrum golf and he seems like he is on the up and up. Thanks for any feedback.
