  • Setting for Forgiveness

I asked a question regarding the forgiveness setting and I did not get much of a response. I would like to hear a discussion of this setting.

    1)exactly how does it work?
2)what should it be set on?
    3)what exactly is it's purpose?

My thoughts are that I believe the ProTee needs to be tweaked to a proper level of forgiveness. I an currently set at 30 and I think for me 30 to 40 "feels" right. I know that my "real life" shots are not as extreme as they are on the simulator. My guess is that today's club/ball technology accounts for this. I know that a mishit on the sim is way more severe than a mishit in real life.

My goal is to mimic as closely as possible, my real life golf shots (good and bad) so, I believe the 30 or 40 setting is correct.

Anyone else have thoughts or comments on this? What settings are you using? Why?

I play at whatever the default setting is. I've never changed it. I'm a high handicapper and sure could use some 'relief' but better that the sim be tougher on me than be a piece of cake. Let's remember that play from the rough and sand is nowhere like in real life so you are already getting something of a free pass on those shots, plus the fact that we always hit from the same lie.

Also, if you are going to play in the tournaments I would guess that it wouldn't quite be fair to set your sim to 'max' forgiveness.

To date I don't think anyone has really been asking about this setting.

I think if you look way back I asked this question once upon a time and the answer was a setting of zero forgiveness, which I use.

I hope we get some more input ... The default is 30%

To me the difference is like playing blades vs cavity back clubs (20% vs 40%)
But, I would love to have it explained more in more detail......
