7432 yards? Are we actually on the PGA tour now? Holy smokes..... This should be fun

and by fun I mean extremely long and grueling to the point where you wanna quit 10 times during the 36 holes

It's a great version of the course though with fair greens. Alternative versions were shorter but no where near as accurate a representation. Hopefully down the road we can start reaching out to designers for a shorter version to be created. In the mean time, dust off the 3W and hybrids. 😀

Common belief but there are no shorter versions. The one every thinks is shorter is Muirfield 2016 which is a British open course.

Hopefully soon we will just have multiple tee options they can set for shorter versions of the same courses. Yeah, gonna be Driver, hybrid or 3 wood quite a bit it seems on this one ..

You hit the nail on the head on that one

Advisable to swing within one's form, or risk injuries, even for the long drivers.

Anyone know the average distance to hit the fairway from the Tee?

I played a practice round earlier, man you boys love punishment. I was hitting my driver very good which means I'll get it out 300 yds total went the conditions are just right. This course is brutally long even when hitting it great off the tee. I couldn't imagine hitting it 250 or less off the tee. I'm not complaining just seems a bit much for sim golfers of all ages and abilities.

Greens are fair, fairways and landing areas are forgiving, just too long for rec golfers.

So whats the point of playing courses at Tour lengths? , ? WHO cares how "realistic" it is at this distance ?? There is still time to change it.

Just finished my 2 rounds. As mentioned before, it is looong. I am not a long hitter, but it was a really well done course and the greens are easy to work with. The first round I was a bit surprised since the tourney site showed the 6400 yard track.

                Driver, 3 wood/4 hybrid, wedge/putter, repeat

I probably used my regular irons 8 times per round.

No complaints though, but let's do a shorter one sometime soonish

As far as I'm concerned there is no point lol. I would never play anything close to this length IRL.. Unless I wanna get myself to quit golf forever by the end of the round.

This was the only course that resembled what the pros are playing.......if there was a 6600 yard version, we would be playing it. Sometimes there is not a whole lot to pick from. The vast majority want to play the same course as the pros at the same time. We will not dismiss a course simply because it is long. We averaged about 6700 yards per course. This course has long par 3's so it is not as bad as the 7400 would indicate.

As I've always said when people complain about length, the tour is for everyone. Not everyone that can play 7400 wants to hit 3 iron wedge on every hole either. However, when we make the schedule, we look at what's available. If only the long course is available we test it and decide if it's worth it. I did not find this course that long and I'd prefer this over some random short course given its accuracy. I've been to the memorial every year for 10 years and it's amazing.

The bottom line is if you look at all the courses, a small percentage is over 7000. Sawgrass was a mistake. Not sure how that happened.

Actually I found the course quite fair, my problem is the same on long and short courses , I still have a lot of trouble chipping. Looking at the stats post tournament many of the better players do not hit many greens in regulation anyway but get up and down most of the time. I think you will see most of the same names near the top of the leaderboard at this course, that you see on shorter courses.

I really struggled with short game in the begining. You need to get used to a 10 20 30 yard shot then it'll get easy.

I agree with better players being excellent chippers of the ball. I tend to have trouble choosing the right club on the 2nd shot which leads to many missed greens, even off good shots. My mat(CCE) is pretty penal of any sort of heavier strikes so I really need to clip it to get accurate distances and consistency. I have noticed that my IRL iron game has been phenomenal since having my simulator built. Hope to see that continue. All in all, miss a bunch of greens and the weeks I chip well, I finish high and those I don't.....well, I look up the leaderboard with envy. Course generally doesn't affect me as I can miss a green equally bad with a hybrid as I can with a wedge. I have tons more trouble with courses that have a lot of trouble right. I need real estate to fit my slice into. 😀

I always get excited when I see the longer courses. I am a decent length player myself and enjoy being able to have to hit some mid irons into the greens on these courses instead of just an 8 or 9 iron or less every time. I get how it can be unbearable for some, but I would just use it as a test to see how good my short game is and what I really need to work on in that range.

One of the reasons why the US Open is always my favorite to watch each year is the closer they can get the pros towards even par or even over par the more fun it is for me. Always wished I was good enough to play in it with them. So the gross leader board during these types of course we play will most likely do exactly that for a week. I am definitely one for keeping full length courses in once in a while. Its always very humbling to how you game actually stands compared to the pros and gives me a crazy appreciation for how good they actually are for a week.

I get this is all for fun and can be frustrating for some when you cant even reach the fairway on some holes, but even if I was a shorter hitter Id still like the challenge on seeing if I can keep my score a good as possible with my wedge game.

Not the most popular vote I guess, but im all for keeping full length in once in a while at least. Especially in the majors. They should really test the state of your game.

I haven't played this one yet but I have no issue with longer length courses. I'm not particularly long off the tee but I'm decent with long irons so the challege is enjoyable. My only issue with course choices is when the greens are not sim friendly. I'm not a fan of sim putting to begin with.
