As John would say in TGC, it's good to have Thor's hammer back this week since it's probably the best part of my game! I'm still glad we had the par 3 last week since it was a big eye opener for me of how much my iron game/swing needs some work. The par 3 went in the favorites but this one will not make it. As others have mentioned, greens are a bit too harsh here.

The 15th green is redonkulous. Think I 5 putted, I was looking for the clowns mouth but could not find it

Was going along pretty good up until then and made a mess at 15. Chip rolled back to where I started, putt sailed past and off the green on the other side etc. Ended up with a 9 on that hole in my first round.
Haven't figured out yet how to hit a moving ball in sim world or I might have tried to pull a "Phil" and hit it again when my putt went past the hole :-)

Didn't think the greens were out of control at all compared to some other courses I've played.
hole 15 kicked me square in the nuts, it's a weirdly laid out hole.

mthunt or to whom it may concern. I had an accidental rewind in round two on the 17th hole. I made a 12 foot putt for what seemed like my only birdie of the tournament. I use my iPad with the AirKeyboard skin for TGC and I hit the scorecard button and it rewound my putt. Honestly, the way I played, it doesn’t much matter. Of course, I choked the putt and rewound to make it, as I thought was fair. I’m pretty sure it makes no difference, but just want to point out what happened.

Took my first ever rewind on tour. I hit a good chip on recorded shot # 110 but HA was 24 and SA was -48 on a 14 yards shot which is impossible to do...didn't even make my par after the rewind anyway. Really struggling with my game right now, at least the real season doesn't start anytime soon so I got time to figure things out I guess!

So was this the same course the Pro's are playing on TV today? Sure didn't seem like it. Where was the ocean? 90 yard wide fairways?! Are the courses on the game not replicas?

This is the Bay course. The pros are playing the Plantation course. If you want to follow along with the pros you need to fire up the Plantation course (kpc beta).

Some courses are closer than others regarding replication. Some of the stops nothing has been built. I get that folks might want a go at the course the pros play but the reality is that it wouldn't be much fun for most folks. Too long, too tight, greens too small with to many forced carries. If you look at the shot data of players there are only about 7-10 guys who could navigate a 7000+ course reasonably well.

From my time here the sweet spot for SiM coures feels around 6000-6500 with no forced carries over 230, not too tight with reasonable greens and pins.

It's funny the first time your friends come and play in the simulator and they think that your machine doesn't work right because they're hitting their drives about 205 carry lol... everyone thinks they hit it 270 but in reality if you're getting it out there that far you have a big advantage over most people.

Anyone know the average drive carry we have on our tour here? Now that would be next level stuff. Some tour stats! Long Drive Stats, Strokes gained, up and downs etc etc. I wonder how much work it would be if someone had access to the data and a template.

This course was a bad choice for this tour stop. It was definitely made for PC or console play, and not simulator play. A while ago I offered to help test and recommend courses for tour play, but I was decisively shot down. The generals prefer not to be disturbed.

Sorry I'm not perfect. I chose the course based on length. It's been used before you joined. KPC Beta is 7421 and everyone went nuts over using "the actual course" so I went back to this.

I never shot you down. I said if you have any recommendations to send them to me. I haven't seen anything in my inbox.

I don’t like the course either. The trees cover the fairways. Other than that it’s fine. Some designers put the wrong trees down and the limbs extend more that IRL.

Hey man, big deal, the course is tough...it's tough for everyone. I think we should all focus on the fact that mthunt et al went through a lot of trouble to put the tour list together, and how grateful we all are for that, regardless of the struggles. Thanks mthunt!

I didn’t think people had that big of an issue with kpc beta, because it was still wide open and playable vs the other 7k plus yard courses that were tight with trees, water and terrible greens. This is one course over 7k that I thought people were ok with for the tour. Maybe next year we will get a version with multiple tees so we can get back to the plantation course.

Agree with this. I played KPC Beta last night and it remains one of my favorites. I can appreciate the length concern though some of the longest holes are down hill with significant roll. Still its not a short course. Extra tee boxes could help out to bring the distance in a bit.

I shot a 13 on hole 15 with 5 putts then birdie next hole.... 15 was a massacre to the score card haha. Ball just kept rolling down the mound no matter how soft i hit it!! So relieved that hole is in the books!

Doesn’t TGC move you to the next hole after an 11? Maybe not in tour mode?

I thought the course was OK. It is irritating hitting the same damn tree overhanging the fairway 2 tournaments in a row (believe we played this course either earlier this year or last year). But, it is apparently true to the real life course.

If I'm ever in Hawaii I'm poisoning that tree.
