    Looking for some info-

Ok guys... been a long time since I've spent any time on this site or on my simulator for that matter. Been too busy working and playing real golf So now that the TGC season is here I am looking for some quick help so I don't have to search the whole site. FIrst off, did I read somewhere that the penalty system for bunkers (greenside or fairway) have changed (GC2)? Anyone know anything about that? Any other changes? Also, last year we used teamspeak if playing with another person... are we still using that?? FYI.. I have been updating my TGC software... just haven't really used it. Thanks for any and all info!

Voodoo, none of the penalties or anything has changed. The change is last year we went to a site and enters scores and played with another member. This year, you just select play tournament and it's all automatic. No need to arrange games or enter scores.

Thanks for the response. For some reason I thought I read where the bunker penalties were different - I must have been mistaken. Also, what about Teamspeak? And if we're not using Teamspeak, what's the point of playing with someone else? Playing solo is quicker so that is an advantage. Oh, one more thing... I thought I read somewhere if you play solo you have to take a screen shot or picture of your scorecard. Is that true?

You can play solo. Team speak is gone. I've played in 4 events, no screen shots. It's automatic. I read the screenshot thing too. The screen shot of the score card is if you have a buddy over and he's playing in the tournament. It's for the buddy. You don't need to worry about it.

It's way better than trying to arrange a game with someone.

Thanks again for the help. One last comment/question... so if Teamspeak is gone... is anyone playing with other people online at the same time??? Or is everyone just flying solo....

You can still use Teamspeak to play live online matches if you like. Just something to coordinate like before. They did make some adjustments to the penalty system/percentages. Nothing to do with our settings... No need to pay attention to that.

Solo for me. I played in a Threesome in one tournament last year where I hit my tee shot, went upstairs and put on 2 grilled cheeses and poured drinks for 2 kids then came down, waited and then hit a 3 wood onto the par five, went back up finished, put the food on the table for the kids then came down to see the others hadn't gotten to the green yet. The round was almost 4 hours. I like solo.

So if they did make some adjustments to the penalty system.... what are they?

I don't remember what they were exactly, but 1 of them was definitely the penalty out of the bunkers. They increased the penalty out of fairway bunkers as they seemed to have none before, and they increased the green side bunker penalty as well. I think they also increased the heavy rough penalty and decreased the wind penalty. This is where Zmax was very helpful. Where is that dude?

After playing my round today at the fry's open- I was in a waste bunker from 200 out and I smashed my shot- from fairway it would have went 190- but it only went around 140 .. so does this mean fway bunkers are 20 to 22%? I thought the greenside bunkers are 40% and fairway were 10% but they seemed to take a lot more off my shots than that.
I see on the top right of screen depending on the lie- you get a penalty modifier number-- heavy rough sometimes says 53%-65% depending on club you choose, but I read that that is suppose to be ignored.

I believe Zmax had a falling out with the people in charge (whoever they are... Protee?). So to the best of my knowledge... no more Zmax. We need to have a sticky on what the penalty adjustments are for all the various lies (light rough, heavy rough, green side bunker, fairway bunker - and at what yardage is a bunker no longer considered green side). Right now it seems to be a guessing game.

And Tharn... yes ignore those % numbers in the top right of the screen.

                      Thanks 4DFlat,

                      - last night I went through the settings again.... and to my chagrin, I had the Greenside bunkers at 0% and other bunkers at 40%.That would account for me blasting 4 irons that only went 115 out of the fway bunks.. so now I corrected greenside bunks at 40 and all other penalties at 0 as the setup suggested.(For TGC) I also took the time to change chipping and pitching to read the ball speed and not the club and bounced it up to real 100% speed. The suggested settings are for those who tend to swing through flop shots so the club is picked up before the ball. If any of you find that your chips or pitches don't seem to go far enough.. you might want to look into this. I took quite a few extra strokes from my short game being all cattywampus due to 5 yard chips that should have gone 15.

                      See you guys online. :P
