After 2 practice rounds (calibrating new putting area) I played my first tournament round. First few holes were great and then the wheels fell off. The putting on this course is ridiculously hard. One par 4 with an elevated tee is reachable. It is fun to play with ghost players. If anyone chooses me as a ghost, they might get a big laugh on 1 or 2 holes. I had to declare an unplayable lie on one. I am going to add ghosts on all my rounds. It's fun to see where people end up. It's also pretty cool to look at other's stats. One big thing that is missing is quests stats. If a golf sim business wanted to run TGC they would be missing a huge feature. How great would it be to keep everyone's stats for a league? If TGC is worried about having people play that have never paid for the software, they could charge a $10 or $20 registration fee..... My friends would pay it.

Does anyone know how you would look at your scorecard after a tournament round?

TGC is missing out on a huge part of the commercial market. But then it was not designed for that at all. But it gets closer and closer with every update.

I think you have to play both rounds first - Go back to tournaments and select the tournament and you'll see scorecard tab

        That makes sense.

Wow, the simulator can even replicate that part of golf? Lord knows how many rounds I've had where things are looking pretty good through the first few holes and then (as you say) "the wheels fell off". If they start duplicating my friends flirting with the cart girl then I will claim that these simulators have gotten too realistic.

BTW, waiting for mine to be installed is absolute torture. I don't know if it is better or worse that I have been spending so much time on the forums while I wait. Four more weeks, four more weeks....

Trust me it's worth the wait. The first ball I hit into the screen I said yep worth every single penny!

The wheels fell off alright. I hit one long and was 60ft below the pin but only 27 yards away. I had to declare an unplayable lie. Overall I had a great round. My handicap is now going up since I have putting working. I took out my trigger floor sensor and replaced with a line scan camera for triggering. My putting surface is perfectly smooth. Once I calibrated it, it works awesome. I could make it more accurate if TGC went to the showed distance down to the 1/10 of a foot. It is worth the wait for sure. TGC is way better than E6 or Red Chain. I will be playing every tournament from now on. I agree that it is worth every penny.

I need a ruling from the committee.

I had a drive in both rounds where the results didn't even come close to matching what the pro-tee interface or GC2 displayed. In both cases I did a rewind. Integrity in golf / sim-golf is critical to me so I want to get input. I am happy to DQ myself from this tourney (or has Protee DQ me).

In both cases (again both drives) the TGC carry yardage was more than 45 yards different than the GC2. And it wasn't due to elevation on these particular holes. I typically see some discrepancy between TGC and GC2, but nothing like this unless I am hitting out of the deep rough or bunker and then it is usually only what you'd expect from a lie penalty.

Let me know your guys thoughts are...that way I will know how to handle in the future as well.

Note: It is probably worth say that TGC vs. GC2 drive carry for me is usually within 5% or less.

      Thanks.

What were the spin numbers? It's happened to me. I just play on. Usually it's low back spin and hooking for me.

          Mthunt,

That could be it, but it might be a more frequent problem for me now that I have moved to the Taylormade M1. My good drives are around 2000rpm, 16.5 launch, and and ball speed around 150. Even though my ball speed isn't that high, the launch conditions are great, so the ball carries a lot both on the gc2 and in real life. The funny thing is my misses go higher with, with even less spin (around 1500), and a little hook. In real life, I call these knuckle bombs because it is hilarious how long they go. I think the TGC engine may not handle those launch conditions well at all. Based on what I have seen in real life play, the gc2 analysis is much more accurate on the low spin drives.

Ok if anyone should be DQ it should be me for padding my HCP today. Last weekend I decided to bust up some of my ribs on my bike. I tried to hit a few balls sat but not a good idea and way to much pain. But today I can't take it no more I had to try and play and thanks to Advil and Beer I made it through the first 18 not sure how. My 7i was around 100 to 120 yards and 3i 150 but I had a few drives maybe 200 still fun. Hopefully if I can still move tomorrow and get a another sand bagger round in.

I know with my GC2 and TGC the numbers don't always add up, my biggest issue is with lower hits with the driver they don't go anywhere and they still would go 200+ on a real course but oh well I just take whatever TGC gives me.

Note to self no more front flips on my bike bad idea

That sounds like something I'd do. Me to GF: I'm going to play golf.
GF: you have 2 herniated disks and a bad hip flexor how are you going to play golf?
Me: I took ibeprofin I'll be fine.
Hey it was golf season and I was going to play.

Although the sim is fun and pretty close to real- you are going to get some odd shots here and then . sometimes my 4 and 5 hybrid, the club swing gets picked up by the V camera and the ball launches into space. while it go's 200 yards high, I lose about 40 yards distance - when this happens, I hit the rewind.

I know the knuckle bomb. TGC doesn't like them. I do it with a bad 3 wood. I just suffer and move on. If the tournament allows a rewind, I'd love a mulli on those.
