  • I'm confused...

I'm still not quite understanding how the tour is working this year. Last year, we had handicaps and most people who played in the tournaments at least had a decent chance to win or at worst, compete for a top 3 finish. It also seemed that there were season standings consistently updated. We also would play with another player live at the same time. That was kind of cool. Obviously a round takes longer... but there was a cool element to it. This year, it seems the same better golfers win every tournament. There is no season updates and the communication between players seems to be lacking. I just noticed there is a Q school or something where you have to play 5 rounds to establish a handicap. I haven't yet had the free time to do that.

Am i way off base here? Or am I missing something? Someone please enlighten me. Thanks.... I'm just trying to better my online experience.

You're right. Vance ran it last year and Protee is running it now. There has been little postings of who won and you have to log in to TGC to see the leaderboard. Handicaps were manual but now they are part of TGC. Strangly, I'm a 19 handicap so I own the net flights due to a +69 round in my cap. I tried to reset my cap but there's no way. You can still play with others I think but I played with people last year shooting big numbers and didn't like the delays. I like ramming in a couple of,rounds in 90 minutes. The better golfers only win low, gross,

Yeah, I'll second the point of liking not playing live with someone online. I'd be fine playing a round with someone live if I didn't have to wait for them to hit before I hit though.

I bang a round out in 60 mins. Even still I can't play everyday. So I want nothing to with waiting for someone to hit and the round taking 2+ hours.

I'll save all my anger for slow play during the summer, for real golf.

And anyways you're more than welcome to pair up with someone via this forum or other means to play a live round.

I agree Protee is lacking on updating the tournament standings as well as season long standings. I think their hoping their online site with API scoring/stats will take care of this.

Just some growing pains. There is someone working on the leaderboards while we speak.
You can play online with < 1 second delay and we have dedicated teamspeak servers with 50+ channels running.

Next update will include a brand new lobby, so you can meet, greet and start an online game directly on our servers...

          Hooray!

Hang tight guys. There are changes coming quite soon. This will allow to view current leaderboard, standings and stats. Lobby system will also be coming in next update. Its all coming!!!!!
I like the fact that you can play against others or by yourself for these tourneys. There are times when its just to busy and hard to arrange a game.

Let me expand on my initial post. I 100% agree that playing solo can be a huge benefit timewise. I would have no problem playing that way all the time. I guess my main issue is the lack of handicapped tourneys. I know I'm going to shoot roughly 78-85 (unless my swing is off.... then I could blow up!).... but those scores have zero chance of winning a tournament with a few guys shooting right around par or just over. So that's my main beef right now. I don't want to sound like a complainer because I really love TGC and everything Protee does to make this happen.
