Adding more time to complete the tournament?

Currently we have 75 players that have played at least one tournament. 5 hours before the end of the current tournament, we only have 35 players that have completed 2 rounds. Occasionally I find it difficult to have 1 or 2 practice rounds and then 2 rounds within a week's time. Other times, I have the time to play 4 rounds in one day. I propose that we add a few days to the length of the tournament. Also, it is difficult to know when the time is up. The latest tournament will end at 2 am Monday my time MST +7.0. Other tournaments have gone as long as 3pm on Monday, my time. I know that the tournaments will over lap a little but it should allow more players to compete. The only argument that I have heard is that some players like to play on Sunday along with the pros..... if we are playing the same course. Those players can still finish their rounds on Sunday.

    Thoughts?

I do like the feel of having a fresh tournament start each week and with this we'd otherwise have multiple going at once. Not a big issues for me though and id be cool with it either way if it promoted more players. And as for end of tournament times I didn't realize it wasn't the same each time, but think that when you create a tournament it only gives you a number of days option and not time right? So I guess it all depends on when the protee guys get a chance to set it up. I always play between midnight and 5am so im more on their time in Amsterdam and on the main screen of the tournament it says how many hours left we have on the last day I believe for those that didn't know.

I feel like 7 days is plenty of time for 2 rounds but I've never been one to really play practice rounds. So I'm sure playing 4 rounds instead of just 2 would be much more difficult. As long as a new tournament started every Monday and not the middle of the week, I guess I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'm not sure what the participation has been like for previous I tournaments, but I consider 35 to be pretty good numbers for sim tours, or at least the ones I've been a part of in the past. Numbers could have been down this week also due to reading about everyone's displeasure in this particular course.

There are many reasons people choose to compete and also choose not to compete. I find that playing in the tournaments does not improve my game. I will likely not play them in the future.

As for needing more time - the tournament was announced on Monday and ran until Sunday, how much more time do you need to play 2 rounds? The fact that some people choose to play practice rounds is their choice. With the new format you can look ahead at the schedule and play practice rounds to your hearts content.

I agree that seven days is enough. Keither? 2 practice rounds? That's intense. I bet people bail after a big number because there's no reason to finish. I did that with the Christmas tournament.

I'd say keep them ending on a Sunday like real tournaments. 1 week is definitely long enough.

In all seriousness, what are some things that help you to improve your game? This is my #1 concern going forward? Do you spend the majority of your time on the range? Do you have a certain course(s) that help you improve your game?

That's a question that is tough to answer. Some PGA players have said playing was always better for them to improve and some practice more. If you want to improve, I suggest you get a pro, take lessons either remote or in person on a regular basis and practice what he recommends you do. That's what I do but I also play a lot.

I would be for this, but I also don't mind the way it currently is setup. My schedule is so different week by week, and with an 8mo old sometimes I get in 2 rounds, sometimes I can do more. I could have played 2 full rounds on Saturday but I was getting tired and I could tell my golf was starting to go down hill, and I don't need any help with that. I finish 1 round plus 10 holes on the 2nd round, didn't have a chance to finish on Sunday.

I'd think starting Monday and finishing Sunday should be fine.

If you need to play practice rounds, it would be nice if the next tournament would have the posted course exactly as it is found in the course list. (Capitalization, spaces, complete name, yardage). There is a great post here.

I played East lake lake golf club as a practice round, last week, and thought this can't be the course we are playing, but it was.

Yeah, yardage would be nice to post as I have practiced on the wrong course before. It would also be nice if the end time for the tournament was the same every time. I had to rush one time because of a early ending.
