Nice birdie on 18 Bubba22. Was neck and neck with you the whole way but my birdie putt on 18 wouldn't drop. Tough course with all that low lying water. A lot of strategy on where to put your ball on this course. Here's my video of round 1 in case anybody wants to scout the course before they start their round.

Sharkdak....what kind of lighting do you have? I have 4 canned lights on a dimmer. I replaced the rear two with LED and the front two are still incandescent. When I turn down the dimmer, the LEDs over the hitting area stay brighter, but the incandescent by the screen dim quite a bit. My HT1085ST never looks washed out and I don't play in the dark.

I have a brand new BenQ HT1075 and can also confirm my image looks more washed out with no overhead lights.

KSMan - Did you pull your screen tight on the bottom as well as the top and sides? I only have top and sides pulled and it does not look as good as yours does. Does it cause rebounds when it's more tightly pulled?

Thanks ksman. Some holes are quirky but it is a strategy, target golf course. Greens were receptive enough though.

I think this is the projector I have - Panasonic PT-VZ570U but I'll have to confirm it is that model and not a different one when I get home. It is a nice projector but isn't short throw. I need to use keystone a bit which is a downside however the image still looks very good. My screen has bungees in the bottom corners but not on the bottom itself. It is tight and there are some rebounds but never enough to hit the player. If you hit a hard 9 iron with a lot of spin it probably will bounce back about four or five feet. I stand around nine feet from the screen.

That explains it if that's the projector, it's like 2000 dollars street price with 4800 lumens, very nice

Had a nice second round. I made a few much needed swing/grip tweaks and started throwing darts. Struggled with irons this year and ST putting but getting used to it now. All good stuff!

I hear ya...I played against your ghost last night. Nice round! I started struggling with a hook and have been trying to sort it out. A quick DTL video helped a bit. This week I hit it well.

Well this week was definitely an improvement over last week :-). Had a couple of boneheaded mistakes that cost me a couple of strokes and missed a birdie putt by an inch which was disappointing. Did make an eagle on the short par 4 after driving it with a 3-wood. Really thought I was going to find the 70s but had to settle for an 80. We'll see what round 2 holds later this week. Outdoor golf tomorrow!

I got in both rounds yesterday. I still never made a single putt from 8ft and out. I managed 76 in round 2. I think they need to trim a few trees off the tee box on this course....otherwise I liked it a lot. :-)

Do you have to play a big hook there to have a change at a GIR?

I went in to this tournament thinking this was a recreation of the real East Lake Golf Club (as in the one that host the Tour Championship every year). I quickly realized that wasn't the case when I stepped on Hole #2 and there was a tree directly in front of the tee box. Haha. I hit said tree of course, but somehow still made par from 95 yards out.

3 out of the 4 courses named East lake golf club are accurate. They must have picked the one they did because of distance, without checking accuracy. I usually look for things like this to verify if it is the comparable to the real course. http://www.eastlakegolfclub.com/golf/course-tour/. I have even checked the video game.. Links 2003 to verify accuracy.

I myself would rather play an accurate to the name 7000 yard course instead of a 6600 yard course that is made up. If we are to play a course that is not accurate to real life, I would rather play a top notch course. As there are a pile of great courses between 6400 and 6800 yards. We need some good variety. In the future we will take a little more time picking the courses. The courses will be tested and we won't let one slip through like the last tournament. I loved the course but putting was like getting punched in the gut. That course would be incredible if they eased up on the greens a bit.

Accuracy is a big thing for me. I like watching the PGA on Sunday to see how the pros play it.

Quoting this because I might be pounding y'all with that handicap this week. A front nine 39 finally broke me out of this rut. Ended up with an 83 that could have easily been in the 70s. A few shots on the back nine left me in bad spots. So far I like this course a lot more.

Yeah, that last tournament was tough....What a way to welcome all of the ST players.... Welcome to the golf club, my name is John and I will be commenting on your putting nightmare that is about to begin. I would play that course again if the greens were closer to normal.

Yeah I always seemed to be staring at a tree. Mind you I was hitting it pretty poorly, but man for us high handicappers these courses are very tough. I have to remind myself that I'm still a new golfer and I'm playing some tough holes, otherwise it's easy to get frustrated.

I'm also getting constant no reads from my 3 wood (25 years old). I'll be going to golfsmith Friday to try out some new ones. There are some dimples on the club head and I think it's throwing skytrak off.

I get a lot of no reads on my 3 wood when I hit it a little fat and it. I think it's either because it launches low or because the ball moves before it takes off. I only started golfing 2 years ago and am still a high handicap. I shoot high 80s on a great day. low 90s average. Hoping to start getting my long irons under control and I will be where I want to be.

What's frustrating is when I hit the 3 wood clean it reads maybe 15% of the time. The slower the swing the more likely it reads, or if I hit it really poorly.

I used to have a bunch of issues reading 3wood, I lowered the skytrak unit by a quarter inch or so and now it picks it up all the time.

Who put that tree in the middle of the fairway on #13, right in front of the lake? Hit the tree naturally, wet, ended up w 8. Ouch. Maybe its a good idea to play a practice round.

            • #13
Didn't play well in round two :-(. Finished with 80/84 this week. If I could keep my drives out of the trees I would be okay.

Haha that made me laugh, John would say something like that too. Same, loved the course, just the greens were holding it back a bit for us sim players at least

I see. Yeah, I'm glad there's somewhat of a tournament committee that will be vetting the courses for the spring tour. I enjoyed the course overall, there was just obviously a few lazy design decisions made. There's certainly better choices out there, but this time a year ago I was playing Optishot. So I'm in heaven. If you guys need anymore course testers, I'd be glad to help. I'm now comfortable with the software and should start playing closer to my real life handicap of 1-2.
