I thought it was played at 7% penalty (or light rough penalty) when hitting from anywhere over 40 yards in the bunker?

I'm one I can generally tell if I've cut one bad enough to banana slice it just after impact. I don't really have a good sense of the "pull" shot. I don't draw the ball. I tend to "pull" it if they go left. And they go straight as an arrow IRL. But some of my misses in TGC or SkyTrak Range are draws/hooks. I can get it to to "pull" just like IRL, but I just wonder sometimes how I can get a draw/hook on the sim that I can not get IRL. I guess the frustrating part is that since getting the sim my indoor play has been way better than my outdoor play and I felt like since my outdoor scores have started to fall my indoor scores should follow suit :-). But the two have caught up with each other. I'm capable now of going out and shooting anywhere from 85-78 IRL and do just about the same indoors :-).
I'm going to write down the penalty numbers out by my computer and see how that impacts play. Thanks for the tips on that!

Yea i did that exact same thing. On my garage door I have a big spread sheet from 25 to 240 yards in 5 yard increments and just set the function in excel so the next two rows would show what the yardage would play as for the 7 and 14 percent penalties. Works great and speeds up my play as wellOriginally posted by MainStGolf View PostI'm one I can generally tell if I've cut one bad enough to banana slice it just after impact. For me I add one club from the rough and 2 from the heavy rough and play the number from bunkers over 40 yards. I try to hit 15 yard bunkers shot 19 yards ect but it's far from an exact science. The best thing to do is not hit it in the rough. LolMy Courses:

Best advice there in the last sentence but we all know that's not gonna happen hahaha. Only issue for me with the adding one or two clubs for light or heavy rough is that 7 and 14 percent difference isn't always the 10 yard gap that is generally between clubs for most people. For example from 100 yards out you are still gonna be playing it as 107 from light or 114 from heavy, so that may be the difference between only one club or so from the SW to a GW. But in generally you are pretty correct in that add one or two club idea and that should work for most without an issue and most will get the hang of it and adjust quickly knowing from the shorter distances it isn't needed to go up 2 clubs all the time.Originally posted by mthunt View PostFor me I add one club from the rough and 2 from the heavy rough and play the number from bunkers over 40 yards. I guess just for me I just like having the exact numbers in front of me, I feel if I cant see the lie im actually hitting out of to be able to judge it a bit, then having the numbers is the next best thing (or probably better if im honest haha)...........now being able to hit those numbers consistently is a whole other battle haha
