    Tournament Performance

    Hi,

Just working my way into the tournament schedule and I'm hoping to begin taking part in the next week or so.

I was curious if anyone has any information on the winning performance of the various hardware forms, or if anyone has any experience comparing the tournament results of Protee vs. Skytrak vs. GC2 users? Are there any significant differences between the various hardware platforms and the results in tournament play?

Interesting question but I think all 3 are very close to one another - at least for the home sim market. I would suspect the outcome is more of how long has one been swinging indoors and using the SIM. At least for me it has been about 6 weeks and just finally getting use to swinging indoors.

There is also a learning factor in putting and chipping in the SIM.

I would like to see a stat of tour results of those hitting into a net vs a projector/impact screen. Until last event I was pulling everything to the right. This event I placed a 10 inch long and 5 inch board inline with the target and did much better in event - about 9 strokes better, but hit the ball much better as well. Still messing up on some putts and chips.

Once I get a projector and screen I will be able to look up and align my self with a target in front of me just like real golf, but for now the board will have to do.

I couldn't agree more with the comment on putting and chipping. My chipping and putting is better IRL and a real challenge on the simulator. I find I'm just challenged visualizing the distance portrayed by a number on the screen. When I'm on the course I can judge the strength of a shot needed to carry a specific visualized distance. On the simulator, I have to translate a number into a visual memory, and that isn't intuitive, at least to me...

No doubt - any shot that requires feel rather than mechanics is much harder on a sim.
