It doesn't matter to me either way. Sim is not real. I can tell you, as I already did, we are tweaking ratings a little like godfather spoke about but it won't change handicaps drastically. It was only 8 or 9 months ago when the winner was 25 under every week. Now it's like 3. That's what we were going for.
Do you want a sim hdcp that approximates a real life hdcp? Yes or No

I say the course ratings should probably be altered a bit and handicaps should be able to up as well ss down. I have been playing horrendous recently and had one 71 round and my handicap went down. I think you should go up 0.1 every time you don't shoot your handicap. I have never really agreed with the handicap system you use over the pond as its complety diffent to the uk. But i do love the work you guys do so am happy to go with the majority. I think it great that you dont have silly scores winning every week so at least if you play well you have a chance of winning. Im 4 irl but in uk im category 1 so every time i play a comp and shoot nett 2 under i only get cut 0.1 as the standard scratch is 1 under at my course. Its tough to get down because if i shot 4 under gross 8 under nett i would get cut 0.7 from 4.3 to to 3.6.

Handicap is set per USGA style, such that your handicap index represents your potential to score.
It takes the best 10 of your last 20 rounds, cut by a percentage of your differential to the courses ratings. So a bad round is tossed out, as it isn't in the best 10 of last 20, but your good rounds will lower your cap, since you've proven that you have a better "potential" to score lower.
I think the fact that the top 5 or so every week aren't +/- 5 strokes from net 0 is showing that the current USGA style system works pretty good.
The course ratings on the other hand are maybe not great, but others are looking into that.
But yet, just like IRL, here in NY, USA, my handicap takes a nose dive with good play pretty quick, but takes a longer period of time to climb back up with repeatedly bad play.
I've been playing OK in these online tournaments as of late, but I must have pushed out a couple real low rounds recently, as my handicap actually went up 0.2 strokes. The main thing is that it's an even playing field for everyone.

I take your points and I know how it works I just commented and said I'm not a massive fan of the USGA handicap system that's all. In the uk they take all of your competition rounds into play that's all. if my best 10 out of 20 worked out my handicap over here I would be 3 or 4 shots lower irl. I now understand why some of the pro's were playing off plus 7 before they turned pro. I must come and play over in the states. better weather and easier handicap system as well as much better courses too.

Very good article cklguy, at least I have the best of both world playing the sim tour and rl tournaments. I'm playing horrendous at he moment and looking at my last 20 scores my good scores that I posted 17 rounds ago are just about to be thrown out in a couple of weeks so interested to see what my handicap goes up to. Over the last two years in real life I have gone up for 2.2 to 4.2 and I haven't really played in many tournmants. 20 to be exact and I have gone up 0.1 in every tournament lol. That's the joy of being a new father hence my need for he golf simulator. I prefer the online tour as the weather is always good and here in the U.K. The weather is shite all the time. Decent courses as well online. All good fun.

Many thanks I'll take you up on that one day hopefully. I would offer you a round on my course in return but all my local courses are pretty poor and the weather is horrendous most of the time so the sim would probably be better. Would love to play with some of you guys in real time in a tour event at some stage but arranging times might be a struggle
