Havent had the heart pumping on a tournament round like this in a while. Too much mediocre play with terrible short game after taking a break for a month or so to let my back recover. FINALLY put my game together again and it all worked (the driver was actually just ok) in the first round and shot a nice 65. Still cant get that bogey free round in TGC. Itll come one day. Heart was pumping more and more toward the end and got sloppy on a 3 putt on the 16th. Birdied the 17th. Then hit an awful pull hooked drive on the 18th into the trees on the left and left myself with still 182 yard in the heavy rough still to go. Crushed a perfect drawing 6 iron around the trees and onto the green and just missed the putt.
Big difference in the second round. I really shouldnt have taken a 20 minute break in between (stiffened up a bit). Big let down to start the second round. 3 putt bogey on the 1st and 3 putt double bogey on the second. Did manage to get it back a few holes after with a birdie and an eagle I pitched in from 55 yards out. Thought I could get it going again but ended up hitting the driver absolutely hideously all second round. Managed to scramble to save some pars. Needed a par on either of the last 2 holes to hold onto the outright win. A few bad iron shots and chips I thought I hit well but just kept rolling led to 2 bogeys in a row.
Disappointing at the time because I felt like I choked but nice to have finally played well again and happy to share the gross lead (for now at least, lot of people still with a round to play) with Bama and Joey who I played the ghost rounds with and both played very impressively.

. Congrats on the 65. That's a helluva a round.
