It looks like they have updated the Palmer courses for 2016. Which one exactly are we playing. Those who care.... take a look and post on the thread. The 2016 versions are recent additions.
I have been scouting this course for this week. Just shot the round of my life considering. Just aim conservatively on a few holes. For example the 200 carry is really only 160 if you aim to the right . May get up and down for par but if not, bogey beats 10. Sucks you can't drop instead of hitting from the tee
Hole 17 is going to be trouble for me. I just finished a practice round. I turned on autorewind and I think I took about 25 tee shots with various wedges. That front bunker is like a huge magnet for me. Being in the bunker is actually better than being long on that hole. Last time we played this course on the tour was about a year ago..... This would be a great course to play IRL as long as a lot of water doesn't freak you out. I had a couple of extra shots in my shot data that I didn't take. Some are perfect duplicates , some have almost the same data with exception of one field. And one was weird.... driver 11mph after having an excellent drive. All duplicate shots were with the driver. In my non tour data .... shots 104,83,71,46 are phantom data. Shot 35 is letting my 10 year old daughter putt.....she missed. I may have to record my next few tour rounds. @ ProTee..... is it possible to tell if my system sent 2 sets of data or if the problem is on TGC end? If you can let me know that would be great! I do have my system set up not to send data unless there is camera data.
17 is a tough club selection with the downhill. Aero, I put it on auto rewind a few days ago and aimed for the truck. Never hit it but hit a slice and wound up 5 feet from the hole.
Probably too late now but I was looking the the real course list started by ks-man and he mentions the Thursday edition of this that's 6500 ish. I haven't played it but thought I'd throw that out there. I'm ok with the Saturday , it's a great challenge .
The 6500 yard one is the one we played last year. It's too late to change now.

Just some feedback on course selection. I played several versions with aeroburner of PGA West. It is not the length, it is not the water, it is more pin position and green size.
As a skytrak user when the green is missed by a yard or two is where the trouble comes in. Skytrak goes into putting mode and the spin is so low that it is very penal to a pin that is 3 yards on the surface. Most of my chips that are 10 yard carry will register 1250-1500 when putting mode is on. If you turn short chip correction off it goes haywire. I have tried hitting it low & high. I am better off missing the green by 30 yards than 3 yards. This course is brutal to STrak users. This is the one area where I feel TGC is a let down. It is unrealistic & doesn't seem to be able to be compensated for.
Yes.. I know.. Don't miss the green. . On the upside I did like the greens on this course. Good thing because I have a lot of opportunities to putt as not being to keep the ball near the hole. LOL.... Not really complaining just saying it may be something to look @ in future selections.. I am to be GC2 user shortly so what do I care!!!! WINK WINK
i have not problem chipping around the greens in tgc with skytrk and it is actually one of the things i enjoy most. keep in mind that if off a cce, you basically have to be perfect. from my fiberbuilt, i can brush short chips, or open up and full swing flop without problem....other then i suck at all shots right now. :/
the 6900 course is extremely difficult, but fair imo. It's a Palmer after all.
goatbarn please reread the post above... I will be a GC2 user soon... not yet though... SkyTrak reads fine for rpm on chips on my side of it... 2x, sometimes 3x what I get from a clean lie in the fairway on tgc... some shots you can play for it.. this course is a rough one from that perspective because of the long approaches and smallish greens ... when tgc puts SkyTrak into putting more in the fairway it is a shot that has to have room to run out... turn off the short chip correction and it does wild things..
Mickey I do not believe this is true. Simply changing to a wedge does not take you out of putting mode. It indeed changes the club to a wedge or whatever club you have chosen from a putter but the spin #'s are low. I will get to the bottom of it tonight.
Regarding the change from SkyTrak to GC2 it really comes down to I wanted one. I will report back on any subtle differences I see when it arrives. As mentioned... I have no issues with the SkyTrak as a unit. I am probably keeping the SkyTrak. I do believe I have a great unit. no issues.
The part I think that is not being conveyed is that.. with Skytrak.. for whatever reason will put you in putting mode while off the green.. I am unable to return to normal mode.. my guess is that this has to do with the chip correction setting... take a look at this video .. no matter what I do I can't get it read as low as when I am in putting mode... I thinned and chunked a few in this video.. just to show..... I also nipped some just to show the spin that I get outside of putting mode..... if there is a solution I am all ears... https://youtu.be/u4b98qYtoJE

While I do have a cce... this is not a contact issue... my numbers outside of putting mode are good within TGC, SkyTrak & real life.. I am a fine chipper and pitcher of the ball... that is what is frustrating .. once twice around no big deal but watching the ball roll out uphill over and over does make me shake my head.. if I hit a bad chip I expect to be punished ... that's what I like about the cce.. but I also expect to be rewarded when I know I hit a good one... putting mode is the culprit in my opinion .. if this is not an issue with GC2 then I will be happy when it arrives..
