  • Split ball during tournament play...

while I haven't had it happen yet during a tournament round, I've now cracked about 3-4 balls since starting my sim play. If it happens during a tournament round is it ok to use a rewind? If I hit let's say a 7 iron and it goes like 120 instead of 150like I expect and I find it cracked but the numbers seem like a 120 yard shot I don't wanna be looked at as a cheater lol...

More than one piece is pieces.

I have never taken a rewind, I just replace the ball. I think we should be playing by real life tournament rules. Since there is no officials watching you play, this would fall under being honest and following fair play. If the cracked ball severely affected ball flight, it will show in the data. If ball flight was only slightly affected, it will also be evident. Back to the question.... if you hit a ball and it goes 120 instead of 150...... do not take a rewind, just replace the ball and play on. If the ball is well struck and comes apart with the shot going 30 yards instead of 150, take the rewind. Play like you are in a real tournament.

I have cracked several during sim tourney play and never take a rewind. Replace the ball for sure but no rewind in my opinion.

Well if you simplify it like that, sure, im trying to find the deeper meaning of pieces though haha.

But yea, personally im ok with a rewind simply for the fact that in the sim world you never lose a ball and its easy to sometimes just keep playing one ball until it cracks, whereas in outside golf you usually dont get to use a ball for nearly that long.before losing it. Im sure other have but I dont ever remember cracking a ball while playing a round outside.

On the other hand, when im playing tournament rounds on tgc i usually will give myself a fresh ball for the rounds and others could easily do the same. So ultimately, i'm cool with it either way, not taking the rewind is fine with me too.

OK. The final answer is if a ball cracks, there is no rewind. If the ball breaks into pieces, there's a rewind. There's no definition on the size of the pieces so any size is fine.

Anybody consider that if you are participating in a tournament you use a fresh ball at the start.

Highly unlikely that you are going to have a new ball crack that soon.
