  • ProTee cameras after October 2017?

    Hello,

In several places of ProTee setup guide it says: (for systems shipped after October 15, 2017).

The reply from ProTee is that:
    --
2016 systems will have older type camera's which require older drivers.
    --

So, just wondering how much different the ProTee cameras are after October 2017? Has anyone noticed, or what exactly is the difference (in pixels/ball measurement) on the screen with older cameras, versus the newer cameras that come with systems sold after October 15, 2017?

    Thanks,
    -Brett

I see no one has replied to your post, so I will do my best to provide some feedback from my perspective. My guess is Protee went away from the older cameras because they could not get them to stabilize. The older cameras change FPS, shutter speed, gain settings and sometimes there is even a double image. All of these make the system work less reliable or not at all. So, one has to check and often adjust the settings before each session. I don't think there is much difference in pixel or ball measurements once setup and adjusted properly.

Thank you Stonebattle - I will watch and see if that happens with the older unit I purchased (2015). Do you have the older cameras on your ProTee, or the newer ones?

Yes I do have the older cameras and have gotten into a habit of checking the operation and setting before each session.

Thanks Stonebattle , you also say: The older cameras change FPS, shutter speed, gain settings and sometimes there is even a double image....

Since I will soon be at a point of testing/setting up my system, are there any tricks to getting these cameras to stabilize at all between sessions? Do you ever find they are ok, 1 session to the next, or do you have to make some adjustment every time? Sounds like a lot of work, and I see why they went away from those cameras - knowing that should help the price of those older systems to go down, even more (when purchased used).

            Brettster:
Yes, I find FPS, shutter speed and gain settings change between sessions with the older cameras I have. I have gotten into a habit of checking these setting before each session. Not a big deal in that it does not take much time. Yes, I often see a double image on the vertical and horizontal cameras when I check the image in settings. When I see the double image I click Camera Stream and then click Ok in that screen to get the single image back.

I do find camera settings sometimes have changed little when I check them from one session to the next, but they change so often I just make sure of the setting are where I want them each time I use it.

Brett, if you are interested in a vcam and hcam pre 2017 I have two Available from my old protee system. They work great, just have to adjust fps and shutter sometimes like mentioned in this thread. PM me an offer if you are interested.

Wow... why would I want pre-2017 cams jhp016s ? I already have those, what I'm looking for are post-2017 cams, the ones that do NOT have to be constantly adjusted before each session.

              Ok, to clarify.
the newer cameras are in general a better camera .
They store their own settings so once set never need to be changed.

Combined with newer interfaces, they are easier to set up.

Old cams relied on software to boot settings from but the software did not always seem to save the settings meaning everytimw the system booted the frame would change by 1.
Over a period this would lead to a change in image detecting the ball.
The gain etc did not actually change but the range in the settings would giving the appearance they had moved.

Advice! Get the new cameras for a better set up.

Email me and I will help you out.
The newer cameras are better suited with the newer interfaces

Double image on cameras is down to poor power management settings and usb allowed to go to sleep.
also can be caused by a dry joint with the usb extension cable.
Not a fault with the camera itself
