    Protee Launch Angles

    I'm a new Protee user and have a few launch angle questions regarding the system. I've tested both my V-Cam and H-Cam and both seem to be working, as per my test in the Preview mode. That being said I have 3 questions:

    1. No matter what I do can't seem to get my driver to launch at more than 10 degrees; am I missing a setting?

    2. In the practice mode if the club is selected as a driver, but let's say I hit a 5 Iron, I get a very low launch angle, But if I switch the club selection to a 5 Iron, I get a more realistic launch angle.

    3. If the V-Cam is working why does club selection impact launch angle at all?

    Any thoughts? Probably something I'm missing in the set up.

    There are many functions in the system that require club selection in order to work correctly, so not selecting the right club is not recommended.

    There is a fallback system which will use a calculalted angle in case of a camera error.

    If you are sure you know what you are doing you can disable the fallback system. Look for the following settings in the settings file to disable the system:

    Launch_angle_limit=False
    V_cam_fallback=60
    V_cam_min_ball_speed=1

      Make sure the following is set to true.

      Calculate_launch_angle=True

      Can you post a screen capture of the vcam analysis screen?

        Yes Zmax I will post a screen shot when I get home tonight. Also how do I go in and change to "true"?

          You edit the settings file by pressing ALT E while in the interface.

            Well first remote session completed.. so we shall see how the V-Cam works this weekend. The H-Cam was having some cable issues, so I'll address those and see how that works.

            A quick test showed good results for wedge launch angles, and expected results for the driver launch angles other than sporadic 1 degree readings, so I'll have to see about that.

                Well after a few days of using the system, the launch angles seem to be much better, however I do continue to get 1 degree readings with the driver about 20% of the time, and high launched wedge shots aren't reading either. Interestingly, when I go into the preview mode the V-Cam picks up the ball streaks, but fails to give a correct reading. In the case of the Driver the ball streak appears but the read line just shows along the ground, and in the case of the wedges, the read line follows the ball streak, but with no circle at the end and thus a false trajectory reading. So looks like another remote session is in order.

                  You have to play with the minimum greyscale adjustment for each type of club until the camera can detect all la consistently. You might have to increase camera gain and block out the floor if it's too bright.

                    I don't have the cameras set-up currently. I don't have the proper lighting for them yet. I'm only using the sensor mats. I see Calculate_launch_angle is set to true, but every swing just uses the default launch angle set in the default clubs. I read the software is supposed to calculate the launch based on various swing factors, but it's not working for me at the moment. Any help will be much appreciated!

                      Video capture must be enabled and cameras need to be setup correctly. See the "Camera How To" thread. without the camera, it will use default LA's.

                        In the debug screen does anyone know the difference between LA and NLA. I get all zero's in LA and I get launch angles in NLA. I tried asking Protee and got the following response;

                        "ProTee Support, Mar 30, 13:32: These values are for internal use only."

                        Is it normal to get launch angles in the NLA column and zero's in the LA column.

                          Not sure that anybody really looks at the 'debug screen'. I'd assume that ProTee is basically telling you that it shouldn't matter to you, that they use those values for their own purposes.
