  • TGC 3.0 - Where do I change green speeds?

    • Added User Adjustable Green Stimp
    • Added User Adjustable Green Firmness

Where do I find these to change? I looked through all the settings in the main menu, and on a course and see nothing related to green speeds...

It's not in TGC. You have to do it outside. When you installed 3.0 it should have installed another icon on your desktop that says TGC Settings. It's in there.

Double Click TGC icon. A screen opens that says start server, settings, and start TGC. Make sure the X is in start server and click settings. It's there

I have never been able to do anything after double clicking TGC icon. It opens up the screen but most options are x'd out and I'm unable to do anything in there. When I upgraded to 3.0 I did get the settings icon and am able to make changes there.

Do all SkyTrak users have the same issue when double clicking TGC or am I missing something?

If the server has the check mark, the settings are X. Click the server to X it and the setting have a check.

This works differently for SkyTrak users as they have their own interface program. The TGC for SkyTrak installation program will create a shortcut to the settings on the desktop.

Is this where the Boost function is as well?

I was never able to access those settings either. Even after stopping the server, the settings were still x'd out. I re-opened the web installer for 3.0 and installed the settings option the second time and now have the icon for it and have no problem with it. Protee isn't very clear about this in their update email.

Thanks guys I found it, but will have to play with the numbers to get the right "feel". The way I had Protee setup was very very close to the greens around where I live, hoping I can get TGC close to that.

Hey Guys, back after a 6 month hiatus and just checking out some of the new features. How are people finding the green speed and firmness settings? It appears that the defaults are a stimp of 7, and a firmness of 2. Based on those settings I found the greens rolled faster than last year and that they were very hard and didn't hold shots. I'd be curious to hear what others have found.

I use the lowest settings allowed of 6 stimp and 0 firmness and still anything under 4k backspin is not sticking. They need to open this up a ton more so we can make the greens a lot softer if wanted.

So do I have to upgrade the tgc interface for skytrak to change settings , if so how? Is there a download on the website?

Just run the original installation program you received from SkyTrak (the download link in the email with your activation code and install instructions).
This will create an extra shortcut on your desktop to edit the settings.

                more head shaking from me.

seems weird to modify the settings to make a course like magnolia for instance, play how the greens in your area play. shouldn't you be playing them the way they actually play? especially in a tournament setting.

i could understand creating a home course and then modifying that.

All greens were normalized to the same speed so users could define speeds. If you had a course with fast greens and your green speed was fast it got out of hand. You never knew what you'd get.

Putting on a sim is never going to be ideal, so for me, having green speeds all over the place would make it even worse.

huh. not sure how to process this. seems like I am putting myself at a disadvantage if I do not modify the speed, but at the same time, i'm really pretty much used to it as-is already, so maybe moot.
