Brettskermetzger Really cool stuff. I need to play with this with my son's Hotwheels track. From your comments - it "seems" like the height of the unit anecdotally had an effect on "better" accuracy. It would be fun to understand if putting was actually designed into the SkyTrak, or if they figured it out software-wise after-the-fact when the sim integration finally happened.

    I wonder:

--What if the SkyTrak was lower than the putting surface by 1/2 inch or so?

--What if the ball was placed 1/2 inch further away from the SkyTrak? (similar to the front/back shift for flops/drives)?

Both would be in an attempt to move the ball closer to the center of the field-of-vision and "prove" that it's too close to the edge of the same.

funny you mention the hot wheels track...i have something similar to a stimp meter i can use...I did play around with ball position as well but didn't notice anything consistent in change...the one thing i didn't try was having the skytrack lower than my mat...something to do tonight!

Brettskermetzger cool - haven't had a chance to do the hot-wheels track yet - I have some black track that should be invisible to the SkyTrak. Did you try raising the ball or lowering the Skytrak?

I went into the skytrak app and made sure I zeroed out both the the numbers so it was perfectly level, then I started to put the ball slightly on the front of the laser instead of behind or on the side like I was doing prior and I haven't had even close to as many bad reads in the last 4-5 rounds I've played. I also turned off the post shot screen that shows the info that way I'm not inspecting each shot so throughly and just chalk it up to a miss hit now and then.. Too much info can drive me crazy I guess..

I also have the same issue of putts showing 3 degrees right in TGC, even though its rolling along the centered line nicely .. I just aim a little left to get it straight . Sometimes it works , sometimes... One more reason to start saving for the GC2

ProTee Dennis has there ever been any discussion of adding a manual "putts taken" via the keyboard? I've often wondered if it wouldn't be more like RL if I could putt (from the distance shown in TGC) on my putting strip - at a real cup - and then enter the 1 or 2. Maybe an "ask inside x feet" setting option on the gimme parameter? I've played with friends before with the gimme set for 1 inside 12 feet, and then we putt on my 12 foot mat to tiebreak a hole. For guests, the putting isn't fair or fun at all.

fyi, i started playing the JNPG tour this week and between 4 q-school rounds and 3 tournament rounds, this did not happen once, including one round earlier tonight

then i started a round of this weeks honda tournament on TGC. it has happened twice through 6 holes. i would actually rewind them at this point except it is too much of a pain in the ass when you have ghosts with turn order on to go back from a tee shot.

I had the 3 degrees right happen multiple times this week in the TGC Honda tourney. Always on 8-12 footers...very frustrating.

Try turning OFF Putting Correction for SkyTrak in the settings file.

What is "Putting Correction" attempting to do? Thanks

Exactly, what does this do? Missing short putts due to being way offline does suck.

Been testing the ON/OFF putting correction. Off seems to allow you to putt with HA outside of +\-3 degrees. ON locks you in to 3 degrees max miss.

Quick fix - turn ON and aim cursor 3 degrees right or left and putt 4 degrees or more opposite direction. Dead straight putts all day. Cheating? Of course.

Otherwise no fix that I can see. I've tried it all. Level all that. Dark shoes, black face putter, align logo. Nothing seems to fix a 3 degree variance in putting. Kind of pissed about it too.

I should have mentioned in the above post that I was doing my testing on one of the TGC driving range greens. I checked my shot recordings and noticed something else that putting correction ON does. It appears to round the angle to a whole number. With putting correction OFF, you will see non whole numbers. (1.4, 2.6, 5.2) With correction ON, you will only see (1,2,3,-1,-2,-3). Again, either setting had any affect that I could see on consistent putting direction. Appears that there is a right bias for ST users in TGC.

Hold on, I'm really confused - in a post above someone said:

"As far as proving something, I don't know what I'm expected to prove. I've called out 2 specific TGC tournaments in my thread Skytrak Armour for people to compare shot recordings. One when I had material in the flash area causing the +3 AND -3 putting woes. One where I changed the window and solved the issue. It's night and day. I play the tournament every week, plenty of data to support my claims. I finished my second round of last weeks tournament yesterday. Check my shot recordings, I had a +2 blocked putt and a +3 blocked putt (my stroke tendency) and all the rest of my putts were zeroed out."

                        And now they are saying:

"Otherwise no fix that I can see. I've tried it all. Level all that. Dark shoes, black face putter, align logo. Nothing seems to fix a 3 degree variance in putting. Kind of pissed about it too."

So, which is it?? Certainly NOT material in the flash area, right?

If you have an FMJ, please do not cut out the bars in the center of the window. As I have seen, and others have now confirmed, you will see no difference in performance, and you will have less protection for the sensitive portion of the SkyTrak. If you have cut them out, PM me for a new one.

I cut the bars out of the window and still have the issue so yeah, no need to cut them out IMO.. I was hell bent on trying to figure it out but it didn't remedy the situation. I've also had my machine hit twice by a friend and it held up perfectly with the FMJ

Never had 6.. 3 degrees right was the issue 99% of the time.. can't remember if you said to cut them out or not, i did that a shot a last resort trying to remedy the issue. Thread title was to see if anyone had it going either way... mine was right as apparently many others have as well. I think we can all come to the conclusion that it's either TGC or the skytrak and not either if the cases you guys have made for us

Fair enough. I thought it was 6 degrees. I have read someone say to "cut the jail bars" on the forum before but it wasn't me. I can pull the quote if I need to but that's not really my style. No worries Jwheels9876.

@jwheel9876 - will send you a new one on Monday if you pm me your address. Understandable that you came to that conclusion given some of the incorrect posts suggesting the bars are bad and cause problems.

Been waiting for this one. I've said all along that a 3 degree variance can be a lot of things not case related. A 3 degree variance is what a lot of people have mentioned here. NOT a 6 degree variance which is what the OP was experiencing at one time. A 6 degree variance makes the game unplayable. Here's why. You can play around the 3 degree right miss by aiming left. But, if you get a +3 HA followed by -3 HA you may as well give up. Do you understand now bud? Once again, trying to help out my fellow golfers and you making this about us. Let it go already.

Absolutely laughable that you are still quoting me. Since you did quote it, pay close attention to the word AND. "+3 AND -3" I did NOT say +3 OR -3. I'm not sure I can make it anymore clearer.

Funny this is being brought up. I too experience the slight right putts more often than not. This happens with the OEM Skytrak case as well. I'm gonna try the putting correction off to see if that sorts it out.
