This can't be right.....or is it??

I think they did the right thing and grandfathered commitments to existing customers, and was happy to see the email they sent. And there is clarity on the new on-going costs for potential customer before they decide to purchase:
I think Lloyd and Harry say it best!

I'm in the same boat and they told me (via customer service chat) that I would not get to participate in this coupon program.. I'm calling them first thing tomorrow AM to argue..

Well..... I have no dog in this fight but..... there seems to be some "blame" on licenses from their third party sim partners. Well Pro tee is one of them. Pro tee's support and pricing policies are VERY friendly and they are appreciative of our community. I would be surprised if Pro tee was the problem. I am with others on this, it has to be a WGT thing..... it just smells either fishy spin or it's the WGT license.
my opinion doesn't matter to skytrak but something tells me that NOT offering the same deal to those that PAID more.... is a dumb move. You treat your customers paying more better. It builds good will. Oh well. I am glad some have benefited from the change, I am disappointed that skytrak didn't take care of the $199 / yr customers that were merely trying out WGT.

My original mail said "it's time to renew" , even tho not due until April..... by that time I'm hoping there will be more clarity, and i have a voucher.
Seriously glad to see how forums can work for the greater good of the consumer. Well done to all for making a noise, and glad Skytrak finally listened.

Certainly good news for current customers.
Props to Skytrak for making the correction and big thanks to ProTee, likely they played a big role in this reversal.
Will wait to see how it all shakes out once some of the folks on here are set for renewal shortly.

Looks like a lot of you can get away with $99/year who already have the sim...
Now, would you recommend your friend to purchase one with $199/year to play the sim while you pay half of that?
I have my ST but no sim yet with a plan to purchase one...
I feel I am unfairly punished just because I didn't purchase the SIM before all this crappy business practice (the ST mistake).
Now I see I have to spend $1000 more with 10 year's of use with a SIM while knowing exactly most of you are spending $1000 less...
This unfair treatment of new customers totally discourages me (and potential new customers) not to purchase the SIM...

Would I recommend the product? Yes.
Would I recommend the subscription pricing? No. Not at $200/yr without further perks, the current ones are absurd. Especially if you don't own any iOS products, those are the 'bonus' perks. You're paying for a different subscription for the sim software.
Frankly I don't see what $100/yr gets me other than Skytrak running a license server so the device can phone home. It's a weird DRM protection scheme, given you need an account to play a subscription or fully paid sim. Sure they do updates every now and again but it's not $100 per customer good. If that $100/yr includes additional warranties then it would be worth it.
But in the end, it would be up to the new customers to decide if $200/yr is worth it to them to play the sim. They haven't put in the money yet so they get to decide. Whereas some current customers already made the financial commitment, fully paid TGC, and would not have been able to back out.Last edited by frackh; 02-08-2017, 05:01 AM.

Just curious if this "an Exclusive Upgrade Coupon at renewal time" is a one-time coupon or perpetual coupon?Originally posted by awisnia View PostIn full recognition of our mistake, we have taken the following action for those accounts that purchased third-party simulation packages and have been provided access under the GIP package sold at $99.95 per year.- At the time of this change, accounts impacted by this change were upgraded to the PIP package at no charge for the remainder of the current subscription, and
- For as long as the SkyTrak device stays under your ownership, those same accounts will receive an Exclusive Upgrade Coupon at renewal time to allow the purchase of the PIP package at the same price as the GIP package.

It certainly seems Evergreen, as long as you are the original owner.Originally posted by doublebogey

funny how this started as lets go team and then when some get a bit of help with not being charged extra others do not. Now all is good and so what about the others that did not get help, guess it was not a team effort and all about yourself on this and your 100.00 but you needed everyone to cry foul, it was pretty funny reading it though. i received the voucher and sent email back and told them to give it to someone else.Last edited by aeroburner; 02-08-2017, 04:57 AM.

I agree with you on this too, which is why I rejected the proposed resolution through the BBB.Originally posted by aeroburner View Postfunny how this started as lets go team and then when some get a bit of help with not being charged extra others do not.
