Seems like a very hollow update given what they have done with the pricing structure.

Short of reversing that non-sense decision, nothing they can say will make it right for most, if not all, of us.

I wonder if shot delay will be less?

Just tried it out in USB connection mode. Still missed a shot after about 10 attempts and the lag was still the same for me. I am not using an amazing computer (i3, 8 GB RAM, older NVidia card). Really don't see how it's much different other than the network detection capability. Not really impressed with the change in pricing and will probably just be happy with hitting on the range until something changes. I don't HAVE to play simulation and you would think with the limited demand for this sort of thing they would make it a bit more attractive. $450 dollars a year is silly to pay for JNPG especially when I still see a lot of unread shots every single round (maybe it's my computer). TGC actually seems more realistic. Meaning, I'd pay $1000 dollars once and then just $200 a year after that. Still a bit too expensive to be a realistic option for me.

As an FYI....I have an iPad Pro and my shot delay is probably 1 second. I don't have my iPad hooked up to a TV, but rather behind me on a bench in my garage. I hit the shot, then turn around the ball is moving on the screen. I also am connected via Network mode and not directly. I haven't downloaded the new firmware update yet, but plan to do so this evening and will post feedback.

The delay will never change with an upgrade skytrak does. That has to do with the computer or iPad you use. I must be lucky too because I pre ordered and have had mine over 2 years and mine might miss a shot once out of every 5 sessions I have. I usually hit about 75-100 balls a session also.

How do you know this to be true? If it is, why is the GC2 and ProTee so quick on TGC? I had SkyTrak and GC2. My SkyTrak took 3-4 seconds to display the shot, but my GC2 is less than a full second on the same PC. If it were the PC, wouldn't the delay be the same on both launch monitors? Just curious...

I agree. I think it's the SkyTrak itself, and I think they will make it better over time. Honestly, the delay didn't bother me. It wasn't a big deal.

He knows it to be true because Seth has said in the past that the images are passed to the computer and then processed there. The GC2 does its own processing and then just passes the few bytes of launch data to the PC. That is why the SkyTrak takes 3-4 seconds and the GC2 takes less than 1 second. I have the exact same results as you did. My GC2 is 0.75-1.2 seconds, and my SkyTrak was 3-3.5 seconds on the same PC. I'll also add that my pre-order / first batch unit was stellar. I never had any issues with it. My only gripes were the software, which got better over my 2 year ownership.

TorchRedRob has it right. There's not much in the way of processing power inside the SkyTrak - it's a pretty simple $8 microcontroler and an FPGA feeding some images into ram. The thinking must be done elsewhere (iPad/PC). I've never been inside a GC2, but since it will give up flight parameters on its LCD - the image processing has clearly been done already - it only needs to pass some values to the application (Sim or Range)

My dad just did the update and now can't connect via wireless. Not sure what the issue is, he's trying to troubleshoot now.

That happened to me also after I updated. I had to go back to direct connection and reconfigure the wireless connection just like it came out of the box. No problems since.

I am curious if they fixed the chipping/ flop issue for short distances. I will see in the evening

I move the ball forward on the chips 80/20 on that

I did the update yesterday on my ipad air. Now when I am in network mode the unit is disconnecting quite frequently. Maybe ever 5-10 shots. It also makes me re enter my skygolf user ID and password each time I restart the app- even though I've clicked the Remember Me checkbox. Neither of these occurred before the update. Any thoughts?

My data sync is exactly as before. In other words, it doesn't work. No data is synced to my iPad from the cloud. I haven't checked my PC yet. Right now, I have only 2 sessions that show up on the iPad, and both of those sessions took place after I applied this upgrade. I have logged in and out of the app multiple times, I have swipe closed the app, and I most recently let the app sit open for 6 hours but still no data. Anyone else with these problems?

I've got the same problem. Two new sessions have been pushed to the web & are viewable but both IPad & laptop won't sync the old data back.
Whether the servers are working over time because everyone's updating but I wouldn't of thought the new data would be pushed up.

So from what I'm reading, don't update?

Well, for me, it didn't appear to break anything that wasn't already broken (data sync). I haven't had the problems that the others have alluded to, but I've only done 2 fairly quick practice range sessions.
