I'm sure its probably been talked about somewhere already. What does it mean when you hit the ball and the skytrak turns red like its reading then nothing happens. It just turns back green. Ive finally got my program running good and now I'm having this issue. Ive been getting probably 15-20 or so a round. It either does that or just nothing at all. Ive followed all the setup advice and tried network and direct mode. Its getting pretty frustrating doubling and tripling up shots. I thought maybe it was just a putting issue but im finding its on all diff shots. Im using a country club elite mat. Anyone know if that makes a difference?

Toolman6000 - have you done the latest SkyTrak update? Others have been reporting similar issues after the update. Personally, I've not had any of the issues but there are several that have. Take a look at the below thread and see if they've had any luck solving. I use pc over wifi and rarely ever get missed reads. I've not hit any shots off the CCE mat. I really hope that is not the issue though as I just received a strip that I plan on incorporating into my setup.

Are there any particular types of shots consistently being missed, like flop shots or drives? I have been having issues with misreads with TGC but not using skytrak software and high wedge shots are always tricky cuz of steep launch angles... Also, make sure u have adequate lighting... Another thing to check, that I've seen on my own, is when using wifi, skytrak connecting in on 2.4ghz network connection point and computer being on 5ghz connection point causing consistency issues... That or maybe your skytrak is defective... U should open ticket with company and see what they offer up...

I'm really scratching my head on how anything with the latest update could affect shot capture whatsoever (not to say that we aren't still looking into it just to be safe). But typically, the reason I see failure-to-capture has to do with setup or club-type. Are you by chance using a white headed driver? Is the bottom of the unit sitting level with the surface of the mat?

I'm seeing it with putts. Used to I would purposely face the ball's logo toward the SkyTrak then for the last few weeks I haven't had to do that. Just set it on the light and go. Last few rounds I've had a growing number of no reads on putts. Once I turn the logo back to the screen it generally captures. Don't have to do all of them that way. And just know now that when it doesn't read the first one to turn the logo toward the camera. Frustrating though if I don't hit another good putt :-).

I'm really only seeing no reads with TGC. No issues when using skytrak software. Also, whole TGC app seems more touchy. Not uncommon since update to get TGC.exe errors and have interface app shutdown. Maybe unrelated to skytrak update and something to do with Windows and TGC? Or issue with firmware update and TGC interface?

I also have had new problems only with putting. I played a round yesterday and had 8 no reads in a row. I moved the ball all over and finally got it to read when I placed it about 4" behind the red dot. In the past I might have 1 or 2 missed putts per round and only in the 5-10 ft range. I use a 5 foot gimme because I can never get it to read a very short putt. I have not had problems with my other clubs, generally several missed shots per round. I have not been doing anything with the logo

I'm going to include putting in the SkyTrak app, but a few other things are lined up first. So for now, is the consensus that the new capture issue is specifically with putting in TGC?

seems to be my main issue. I've notice with the other clubs it will go red like it read something but then turn back green and emit the laser again with no change. I wasnt sure if that meant it was calculating something and it couldn't compute or what. When i have no reads putting or chipping it never turns any color, it just stays green.

i was playing tonite and it was about every 4th hole my putting wouldn't read. took about 5 or 6 putts for it to read. Tonite was also the first time i experienced the sky trak disconnecting during a session on skytrak app. This has been the most i have ever seen the sky trak laser blinking on and off then coming on.

I used to have drops (skytrak would drop it network connection - middle light to yellow) This has not occurred for about 9 rounds now - hardwired everything. I rarely ever got no reads, however my friend did when he would come over. He has come over twice since I purchased a new router - one no read. Average was 5 to 7 a game.

Odd putting no read issue for me was moving my feet too soon after putting eager to see if I holed the putt. For some reason I think the skytrak confused the front of my white golf shoes with ball and led to a no read. Now I just make sure I pause a little after putting and I stop getting the no reads. Don't know if that is just in my head or not but give it a shot yourself and see if that is doing anything.Last edited by Jtangm04; 02-22-2017, 03:36 AM.My courses:

The missed reads are not specific to putting. I've had non reads with irons as well.
I also noticed something else playing a practice round for this week's tour, which has happened a few times since the last update but happened four times tonight during one round. The SkyTrak is picking up phantom strikes when placing the ball in position getting ready for a shot. The ball doesn't go more than a yard or two, but is definitely triggering randomly much more than usual. I haven't had this happen since TGC first released for SkyTrak. This time it is happening in he SkyTrak PC app as well as TGC.

One thing to note about no reads. A true no read to me is the light stays green and no shot was captured. A no read when the light changes is different. From what I've read this means that a shot was captured and the data didn't get sent over. That's more of a connectivity issue. It could also be that you tripped the trigger with a waggle just before taking the club away and didn't realize it.
I rarely get either of these especially the second type. I will get some no reads when putting sometimes and I'm pretty sure I know why. In the daytime I have ambient lighting coming from a window behind me (dtl). No issues. At nighttime I have a light source (a fan) directly over my setup. When I get more over the ball when putting it casts a shadow over the hitting area. I'll get some no reads because of this and I find that I need to be really still before pulling the trigger. I plan on adding some canned lighting to the room to solve this because it is annoying.
I also never get phantom shots. I can think of only a couple that I've had in the few months that I've had my Skytrak. I trip the trigger when not hitting a shot quite often too. It's really strange how some ST's have issues and some don't.

I'll help with the nomenclature so that we are on the same page trying to pinpoint this issue:
1) Failure to Trigger - This means all three lights remain green when you hit a shot. App is not even involved. The hardware never recognized that you hit a shot.
2) Failure to Fly a Shot - This means the unit triggered - top light turned red but then went back to green. No shot is flown on the range. Usually, this means that the hardware sent an image but the software cannot or chooses not to process it (most common is a false trigger, like when you waggle your club in front of the unit).
3) Phantom Shot - Something has caused the unit to think a ball was hit and it tries to process whatever it was and then fly it. I haven't seen this is a LONG time. But I know TGC is working on updating our SDK currently. This may help all of these issues in TGC.

So I realigned everything and set up an led desk light behind the sky trak that lights it up from behind. I still had the same issues except this time it fully disconnected and wouldnt reconnect. after that happened i plugged the usb into my laptop and proceeded to play 24 holes with virtually no issues. I had a couple of shots that failed to read and a couple that triggered but didnt read. NO phantom shots or mis reads though. Ive never had issues connecting via network mode until this update. Im not blaming the update but it sure does seem like something isnt jiving. At least i can play now with minimal frustration, besides my own golf game of course, lol. I cant put worth a crap on this!

My sky track is failing to read nearly every shot at the moment when hitting outside in overcast or seemingly perfect lighting conditions, what a piece of crap!
