    SkyTrak - Arrived and DOA

So Ordered a SkyTrak, it arrived, charged for 6 hours and then turns out its DOA.

When I turn the unit on the WLAN light just flashes red meaning it is stuck in network mode. I spent an hour on the phone to support and tried numerous resets etc but the outcome is that the unit is DOA. As its stuck in Network mode I cannot connect to the unit in Direct mode to configure it.

The unit will be going back on monday.

To say I am pi$$ed off is an understatement

That sucks man. I have one sitting on my counter at home, brand new, still in the box. I haven't tried to hook it up yet. I hope I don't have the same experience. If it makes you feel any better, I bought a 50k dollar truck and after only 20k miles, it died too! Feels bad man. I just got it back with a brand new engine in it. That's why we have warranties! Hopefully the new skytrak they send you works out just as well!

That sucks man, especially when you want to PLAY the damn thing! I'm sure that SkyTrak will get you another unit, it just sucks that you have to wait that much longer. WE FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

You mean the middle light continues to flash red? How did it get into network mode - that way when you got it? I've never seen a unit continue to flash red on middle light.

Flashing Red = Looking for network (result is either 1) finds network, starts to flash yellow, 2) doesn't find network, goes to direct mode/solid red)

Have you tried resetting the unit using a paperclip in the bottom?

Hi yes, it just flashes red. That was from first turning on after charging. Spent an hour on the phone and tried reset via paper clip. Was told to let battery run completely flat and then fully charge before trying again. To be honest even if that fixes it the thing is going back. If the hardware reset doesn't work the thing is faulty. Also the instructions advise against running the battery flat.

The advice to run the battery flat..just ignore that. Makes no sense and is something a help desk rep will say when they dont know what else to do.

Just return / exchange it, sounds like you have spent enough time trying to troubleshoot.

how are you trying to connect to it? there are other means, usb cord to laptop or direct connection via ipad., go to settings wifi , connect to skytrak, network mode isnt the end all. sounds like you havent exhausted your possibilities?

Agree with some advice above, box it back up and ship it back. Then raise some hell about inconvenience and see if you can get a replacement in the mail before you get the other one back. Unlikely but worth a shot...

skytrak in my experience will ship new unit and allows you to ship the broken unit back after. They even give you a box and return label. I have never had an issue with sktrak but my Linux GT watch worked only for 2 rounds.

yes, send it back. In my experience and belief electronics work great if they work the first 3 or 4 weeks without issue.

I let it discharge over night, charged for 6 hours this morning and same again, just a flashing red network light. Back she goes.

i was promised an email on Friday afternoon with shipping label and details to book a collection but nothing arrived, which didn't surprise me as the guy in the uk I spoke to didn't really seem interested so it looks like I am back on the phone on Monday morning trying to arrange a collection. I could of got it dropped at the depot today, but now it looks like the earliest it will get picked up is Tuesday, time off work to wait for the courier, a couple of days for them to turn it around, and a couple of days shipping back to me so I will be lucky to get it before next weekend, plus more time off work to await delivery. Not a great start. The annoying this is if someone promises to send an email, then send it. It's not difficult.
