  • Skytrak and Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf

looking at the different simulator packages since the free trial of e6 expired.

E6 just isn't really affordable when exchange rates are calculated into Aussie dollars.

WGT - after reading the sticky posts in the Skytrak forum, appears to be a bad idea to go with that option.

TGC - totally unaffordable in Ausse dollars, the minister of finance would never allow me to spend that much.

so looking at The Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf. For $199.95 USD.

just wondering if anyone is using this and if so, what is it like?

It it would be nice if each of the simulator companies on offer here had a 1 month free trial version so that we could all see what each simulator is like. Rather than relying on someone on a forum spending their hard earned dollars, only to find out that the simulator isn't all it is cracked up to be and as such wastes money. Or even the other side, spending lots of money and then fa ding out it is in fact great value for money.

I am not sure what the exchange rate is, but I would think if you could afford a skytrak you could afford any of the sim packages - perhaps I am missing something.

JNPG I think is a good option - the only thing missing that I can think of is ghost players, but I think it has better graphics or at least better looking courses in general.

YonexMan is right... would be good to have 30 day trial of each.......TGC is roughly $1350 AUD for us here.. its a decent whack. i have JNPG on steam / pc and i do like it... TGC just seems to be everyones fav...

I've had my skytrak longer than most. I bought from the previous owner who imported it himself to Australia. But at that time, the exchange rate was at around dollar for dollar or even better in that the Aussie dollar was worth more than the USD. At that time, Skytrak was worth around 2k if imported privately. A mate of mine was lucky and got his not long after I got mine, he privately imported and I think it ended up costing him about $1700 USD.

if I purchased e6 simulator and factoring in the cost of the GIP as well. It would turn into the better part if $540. AUD. For something that I would primarily only use during the cold winter months. I wouldnt be getting my money's worth. Hence looking for a cheaper option.

But looks like I'll be buying the Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf after reading the review on Golfwrx.

have you played JNPG before? i bought it on sale from steam store on pc for around $29 i think... maybe try that before committing to the cost? i like the look and options on it. no quirky commentary like TGC but i don't know if you need it anyway. the only upside for me personally in TGC is some aussie courses recreated. not my local though lol

I love the commentary. It's weird now hitting without it. He needs some updated sayings though, maybe in TGC2.

i don't mind the commentary on the Rory Mcilroy, as it sounds like they know what they are talking about... but not sure on TGC... maybe it will be improved on TGC 2

So I assume the version on steam is just a game and not the same as the simulator software?

          ive never played it before.

The version on steam is just the game, but is effectively the same as the simulator software - the only difference is when you pay for the simulator pass, you can then use a launch monitor with it.
The software and tour is great, won't regret it.

Hi everyone, just thought I would mention this and perhaps we need to make information like this as a sticky in this forum somewhere so that people don't get ripped off by accident or otherwise. As there seems to be a lot of different and conflicting information out there.

but I found out that JNPG simulator subscription may not be transferable.

the information was on another forum on JNPG. But then have heard conflicting information that it is transferable.

So so makes me wonder what subscriptions related to Skytrak or otherwise are transferable and what are not. I've been approached by other forum users telling me of JNPG subscriptions for sale by other forum users in the classifieds section of this and other forums.

So so beware of the fact that JNPG and perhaps other subscriptions are possibly not transferable.

perhaps Seth can help us with information in this regard.

JNPG is a yearly subscription. I own TGC and pay for JNPG each year. I played both tours during the winter and will do so again this winter. But during the spring and summer I chose to only play one tour and I chose JNPG for tour play. There are pros and cons for both softwares, so it just comes down to personal preference in what options you are looking for out of the software. I'm interested to see what will happen with TGC 2. If there are any specific questions you have feel free to shoot me a private message.

I am considering buying a skytrack (other route being the Xi+) and I see that TGC2 is supposed to come out in a few weeks. Will the people who previously paid the one time price for TGC get access to TGC2?

TGC2 for Console will be released this month. Not the SIMULATOR EDITION everybody is playing. This version requires a lot of modifications and a new cloud platform. You will not have to pay full price again.

Just so you are aware: That's TGC the computer game that's coming out in a few weeks, not the simulator version.

New to ST and disappointed with WGT as the shots are terribly inaccurate compared to the practice range on ST. How does JNPG compare to WGT as far as accuracy? Not necessarily distance but shot shape and flight. In WGT the shots are all over the place

I was in the same boat. To be honest I just went for it and couldn’t be happier, TGC is great and totally worth it. You won’t be disappointed. Just my 2 cents

Occasionally I get a shot that I don't think is accurate direction wise. I know they added simulator trial passes for some systems but not sure if that includes SkyTrak. I think they were charging $20 for a week.

It's more than a bit of a work in progress.
