Hi all,

I have just purchased a SkyTrak unit and am waiting for it in the post, but im a bit confused as to how the software works.

as far as i can tell, i get the unit and download the initial SkyTrak software to my PC which comes with all the training stuff like the driving range, target challenge etc. I understand that.

What i don't understand is all the other software things to play courses around the world like WGT, TrueGolf, The Golf Club Game, Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf and Creative Golf 3D? how do they work?

Just have to decide which of the software you want, and purchase and download them..

Welcome OZ! I can speak on TGC only. You download an interface, get a key from Protee and take off. TGC is fantastic!

OK, thank you, they were pretty basic instructions, i suppose when i get the unit its pretty simple to work it out.

In your opinion which one is the best for a beginner?

I can see that they are quite expensive, i dont want to shell out a couple hundred bucks per year to find that i have the worst of them

I would agree with the others, that TGC is what I would recommend. Especially with a Skytrak, and that fact that Rmotion is now being integrated in TGC, together with the ST.

Hi OZ, The Golf Club game is great! Stuning graphics, online tournaments. Once you purchased no further or hidden costs. Any problems with installation, put it on this forum. Enjoy

With me being a new user to the home golf sim system, do i actually need an addon like this or can i get started with the SkyTrak software first before spending another £800 on the golf game software?

Of course. You get a basic driving range app.

Keep in mind, you need a really good PC as well to run TGC. make sure you understand the computer requirements.

As the others have said, I also believe TGC is the way to go. I did a of of research before I picked my simulation package, and even though the others have some nice options, The "rental" price turned me off. I use my SkyTrak a few times a week, and plan to for years, and the cost for the others would eclipse what the purchase price for TGC is. I'm thinking TGC2 will address those features that make the other simulators attractive (like selectable tee boxes), so my decision was to go with TGC, and I have absolutely loved it!

this is I did. After spending cash for skytrak, and the net return I went with WGT or about 3 months. I then upgraded to TGC and then a 2 months later purchased a projector and enclosure with a putting green. This was a nice approach since it allowed me to learn the stuff I had, but it guess it would have been OK if my salary was twice what it is and I could have bought all at once.

I know have e6 as well and like it - but I think you can get buy with having TGC only but not e6 only since it is build really around local play. If I was starting over I would probably go with Jack N and e6 now...cannot go wrong with TGC either and I think TGC2 will be better than Jack N.

Enjoy the skytrak and if you can hard wire everything do it. The closer the router is to the skytrak unit and PC the better. Static IP's are also a plus.

Congrats on your purchase Ozmodion! Since you're on a PC, you could access all of the simulation platforms with the exception of WGT (iOS only). All of the platforms provide great experiences and have various strengths. However, when you do make the purchasing decision for simulation, make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements for the platform. In the meantime, enjoy all of the features that the SkyTrak software offers.

One thing to think about, I bought tgc a year ago, it's ok but I prefer perfect golf , I've tried selling on my licence for 650 dollars for a while now, which is 350 dollars for a years use. ( that's if I sell it!) Download perfect golf pc version to see which one you like the look of.

And if you sell it after 2 years of use, its only $175 per year.
If you sell TGC during the indoor golf season, you can easily get $750 for it, which comes down to $125 per year.
Buy now for $895 discounted and sell after 2 years, and it cost you $72.50 per year ... When renting you end up with nothing. Buy it and own it !
