  • PGA Merchandise Show 2018

The show is coming up here i think in about two weeks...was wondering if anybody on this forum was going or lived in the area. I see skygolf has a booth...wonder what they could be showing...hopefully coming out with something new...any integration between anything and skytak certainly would be welcomed!!! Pretty excited...Im here in missouri (kansas city) and we have our yearly golf show in february. Time to start revving up the new year! Tell me what you guys expect to be on display this year? Anything new or more of the same. Also let me know what its like if you've ever been to one of these Merchandise shows. I usually just catch clips from youtubers

That’s exactly what I think as well. I have a Swingbyte and that hasn’t changed in 4 years.

The swing analyzers do what they do. They capture the club motion in 3d dimensions with reasonably accuracy. They dont do a good job with regards to impact metrics,. This is due to the fact that impact is noisy, and being off by even a few thousandths of a second can give us incorrect data. I am sure that marginal improvements in accuracy can be made, but i can't see much improvement on the hardware front for swing analyzers.

Similarly, the Skytrak does whar it does, quite accurate ball data at a very reasonable price. In terms of ball data accuracy, there is room for improvement, but not a huge amount.

The merging and integrating these two technologies is where it gets interesting. There are clearly synergies, and I am really hoping that they can combine to give us clubdata that is actionable. Trackman's Frederik Tuxen defined actionable as sub 1 degree when it came to face, path and angle of attack.

Tracking a club photometrically into impact is extremely difficult, and requires expensive hardware. I cant see it being done at a price point low enough to be companion hardware to skytrak. On the other hand, the skytrak is a piece of engineering marvel that is in its own league price /performance wise, so anything is possible.

Hi Seth, I have a Skytrak and a Skypro. I am based in UK and would be happy to be a tester. I informed James Holmes and Jeff Hadley back in 2015/2016 after I purchased both products that I am really interested in their integration. Thanks Mike

Curious to see what happens with the Skypro integration, specifically when SkyTrak gets a no-read but Skypro sends the club data anyway.

So now that the shows over, when can those of us with RMotion or Skypro get going on the beta? I'd really like to give this a try as well.

I got my SkyPro up and kicking this weekend. Would love to beta. So far I really like both products and am excited to see how they can be integrated over time.

I heard that they planned ahead with a lot of hardware ... Hopefully more than we know by now!? From the beginning they wanted to implement feature after feature cause software was not ready in the beginning. I hope it's kind of true and we still can expect more functionality to come without additional hardware!?

We are currently doing some sanity testing on the club data. I think once we get through this initial pass in the next 2 weeks, it might just be easiest/best to supply you guys with an open "forum special" beta that you guys can hit on prior to the public release. IMO, it's at a really good spot already on center-struck shots. I just need to decide if it's it worth it (or even possible) to account for shots that aren't struck well. (this tweaking only applies to our calculations obviously, not integrated partners like SkyPro or R-Motion - they are what they are)

Really intrigued by this functionality... Please do your best to account for the off-center hits, although I realize that's a difficult undertaking. Center strikes is what we are striving for anyway though, right...lol

The club data upgrade sounds great....I'd consider off centre hits a bonus not a requirement. Trackman and Flighscope at a much greater pricepoint are useless when the ball is not struck centre face (might have changed with the newer models). A can of Dr Scholls foot spray (or Daktarin for those in the UK) does wonders for checking your strike point. You can then disregard the club data if you did not hit it in the centre.

Oh, and me too please for the beta!

                        I wouldn't mind a no-data message on a mis-hit. I also wouldn't mind a topped ball notification instead of a no-read if possible in the future.

Skytrak has no way to identify a mis-hit.

Have you seen the new update for Trackman that does this? It may be possible for skytrak to do something similar in the future with software? Seth??

I would love to try anything Skytrak offers. I've played golf long enough to know when I make a bad strike. I purchased Skytrak to make my indoor practice more productive. If I'm working on hitting a fade, or lowering my trajectory I find it very useful. If it can tell me things like path, face to path etc., I can ignore the values for what I know are "bad hits".

Did anyone ever get their hands on the newer version with the driving feature? There hasn't been a new release in 3 months.

nope i havent seen anything yet, SkyTrak_Seth above mentioned once getting through the initial pass over the next 2 weeks they would potentially be putting out a beta here in the forum for us to try before it went live. i commented saying that put it around v-day so maybe they wrapping up some things and hopefully something will be coming soon. We're all waiting.
                          Working...
