    Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf

I am thinking of getting this and wanted some clarification.

It looks like I need to:

    1) Purchase Perfect Golf on steam
    2) Purchase Skytrak Simulation plan

Is that correct? Easy setup? Any advice?

    Correct.
Got to have appropriate skytrak plan as well. I recommend that sim plan that is 249 per year. Gives access to a lot more user created courses that are very high quality.
Just FYI you can't/don't run jnpg at the same time that you're running the skytrak software. It's one piece of software at a time.
Typing from my cell phone so sorry for the brief response.

Thanks for the info. I already have the SkyTrak Game Improvement plan (the $100/year plan), so I think I am good there.

I was planning on the JNPG $250 yearly plan. Looks like a great option!

Any tips on setup? Is it easy?

        One more question.

Can you play JNPG as simply a “computer” game with your mouse/keyboard?

As you buy the steam game, you simply change from simulation to mouse and keyboard under controls.

Yes you can play it with mouse and keyboard. Never tried it myself though.

Setup up was easy and downloading and playing custom courses is easy too.

I wish the the game was a little more flexible in terms of configuration/setup of your round but overall it works very well.

The difficult time I had was you have to go to settings and pick simulator and then sktrak. Also, JNPG does not always find my skytrak device - says discovery has stopped. To get around this I just connect it via USB and now JNPG always finds it.

Of all the sim packages I have the most trouble with JNPG - meaning the software finding the skytrak device and capturing shots. I would be interested in others experience. Now, not saying it does not work, I would say 20% of the time when I start I have to reboot the PC for it to work (since I have the USB cable the software finds the skytrak device all the time, but now it cannot always connect to perfect golf. Aslo, during 18 holes I would say 2 missed shots everytime. The shot data displays on the console, but nothing on the screen.

I just think it is first version software stuff. Still, like all the sim software - glad it is an option.

I had my Skytrak connect with USB and didn’t have any issues at all with both TGC or JNPG, not 1 connection drop out.

Setup was pretty easy. The user interface is clunky. The software is a slow work in progress. The stats are lacking and the player base is small.

For Simulator play I suggest you set the greens to soft. I think they may have a trial pass for SkyTrak for $20/week but I am not 100% sure on that. I suggest you try it before you buy it if you can.

Agree - Interface is clunky and pretty non-intuitive but becomes second nature, a bit like Facebook. Only a few updates in the last year which should increase now as they've been able to employ more developers with Trackman purchasing them. Sim player base however isn't small - there were 331 completed tour rounds in last week's events alone. Out of respect for this site which sells a competing sim I won't mention that tour's name, but hope it's not out of order correcting with facts. Also there are more stats than anyone could ever want - at least 50 items.

Does TGC have a trial pass?

Where are these 50 stats? I only seem to get a few at the end of each round and then those stats don't seem to be saved anywhere. The interface as you say is not very intuitive so I may be missing them.

Were those Tour Rounds Sim players only or does that include the PC players? For PC players that is very small IMO. If it's just sim players then it is larger than I thought but still not very large.

You have to go to the same site you register for the tournament and view the leaderboard. I can't paste the link here. Each tournament will give you detailed stats for your round. You can also view your profile and see cumulative stats for the season. There are 36 stats on the profile page, and nearly that amount for each tournament. When you play on the sim tour you are playing against other sim players not pc players, and there are typically 50+ players each week, sometimes more. If you look at the leaderboard through the site you'll see...

So those stats are not available within the game itself which backs up my original statement. The stats within the JNPG software are lacking.

There's over 50 stats you can view to see who leads in each category of the current season as well as 34 individual stat lines on your profile that you can see for MULTIPLE seasons back if you are a member of the corresponding tour site.

FYI, JPNG external stats and playing tournaments will cost you $40/year. With TGC, tournaments, toursite stats and in-game stats are all 100% free.

I did some more digging and it looks like JNPG does offer stats but on their website rather than through the game front end (unless I am just missing how to access that). The website is a bit of a mess to navigate to an individual courses stats as you have to pick from a very long list of courses. Right now there doesn't appear to be a way to manage/reset the stats but at least it is something.
