  • Distance to impact/ Net - Is there a limit? What Net to use with skytrak

Hi. I just bought Skytrak and now I need a net. But is there a distance the ball must travel, or will a club length do? Problem with Net is that if you are to far away you can miss the net and cause damage to the surroundings, so you need to be close. Any ideas?

Also, what can would you recommend that don’t cost that must but still is safe to use.

Can have it as close as you want.

The Net Return is a sure bet, price might be higher than you're looking for but well worth it. I have mine set up as close as the driver swing allow due to limited space in the room.
While I don't (nor any sane entity) recommend it, my club actually exit through the corner of the Net Return due to it's curved frame design. Wish I had more room between the ball and net so I don't feel so confined with the longer clubs, but it is what it is.

I like The Net Return but didn't want to spend that much money. So, I bought a RukNet, and so far so good. I've hit over 1000 balls into it so far with no issues. I also have limited space. My ball is 5-12 feet away from the frame depending on club. If you buy one, get it direct from https://www.rukket.com to be sure you get the latest version of it. There are some older versions on Amazon and eBay and some have reported issues of frames bending. However, I personally feel that bending is a result of improper take-down in most cases. I leave mine up in my garage because it's not in the way though. I got mine direct during the Easter special for $123 shipped. Right now they are $145 shipped.

Skytrak only cares about what is happening as the ball passes the unit. Beyond that you could hit into a net, screen, a herd of sheep or an abyss.

Radar based systems such as Trackman need a minimum distance to net for accurate readings, as well as metallic stickers on ball to pick up spin. Honestly, for indoors ball flight data, I'd rather have a skytrak than a Trackman ... unless I had a huge space or had ball speeds 165+ mph.

I had a NetReturn Pro, but have sold it and built my own enclosure.

I wish I would have built the enclosure from the start. You can easily build to any size using 1" EMT tubes and corner connectors (from tarps.com).

Whatever you go with, use all the available space you have. The bigger the better.

I too have a Rukket sports net and have been very pleased with it. The net sets up very quickly and returns the ball well too. I got my net last Spring and in January I wore out a hole in the net and needed to purchase a replacement net.

The distance doesn't bother the Skytrak at all.

                Thx all for good replies.
I don’t live in US so its more difficult to get expensive things as custom cost 25% extra + not all companies ship to Europe.
I have two options. One is to use my garage, but ceiling height is only 8.5 so I can’t use driver.

The other option is to build a new building (22x17) in garden or next to my house wall. This would cost $50k so its expensive + rest of the stuff I need but then again, I would have a really nice home simulator and on top of this I might be able to fit in some other fun stuff for kids and wife like workout equipment. I am leaning towards this solution but since I just ordered the skytrak I like a good cheap solution until then.

The net return is perhaps best solution right now but cost. The Rukket seems really nice and its cheap. I also saw this on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Optum-Home-...IAAOSw7rdaXh8n but not sure about the Quality.
Another option is to just buy a https://www.sklz.com/golf/quickster-.../8QKS-000.html and find some cheap netting to hang around for safety and miss hits.
Or try and build myself a box with impact screen.

I have always had a DIY net. I bought 10x12' net from Gourock and also bought a small piece of impact netting from them that takes the brunt of the abuse. Then I built pvc frame that attached to my garage that works well.

Shardak i tend to agree with Shardak here. If you can build your own enclosure. When I first got my hitting mat. We purchased just a net and strung it up. This was our first step I. Towards a indoor simulator just didn’t know it at the time.
