    Help with unit not reading....

So my SkyTrak was working great for the past few weeks, but all of a sudden it doesn't want to read shots. When I hit a ball the unit doesn't even read it, the lights just stay green. The sensor that picks up the club when I wave it in front seems to pick it up only if I have the club about 3 inches off the mat, it rarely picks up anything at mat level. I tried adjusting the I have read in another thread that it could be the curtain but it will still sometimes turn red when I wave the club in front. I tried adjusting the tilt to 5* so the unit is leaning forward towards the ball and it picks up some shots like that but still nowhere close to what it should be picking up. I also tried adjusting the feet on the stand to all possible heights and it still won't read consistently.

The unit is only 40 days old with a little over 6000 shots on it, I would hate to have to send it back for repair already as I have heard the turn around time is about a month. Any advice on things I can try to make sure it's not just me? I have tried all the usual stuff like lighting and background, new balls etc. as mentioned earlier it was working great all this time and nothing has changed. I read that there is a curtain that could go bad and cause the unit not to pick up shots, I'm hoping this is not the case. any advice from SkyTrak_Seth or anyone else would be appreciated.

I also just tried taking the unit out of the metal case and hitting without the case and it still doesn't read, so looking like something with the unit went kaput :/

Did you try sticking a paperclip in the reset hole on the bottom of the unit? Its in the larger hole. Hold it in until all 3 lights turn yellow and then release and restart your program.I had to do that with mine when it was only registering a few shots and then it would stop and do nothing. Joe

I am not totally sure about this, but I believe there are two curtains, one for righties, and one for lefties. I believe they operate independently, so perhaps you could flip your unit around and have a lefty friend take a few shots. If it reads well, one curtain is likely shot.

You don't need a lefty friend to try, just turn it to LH and then swing over the top of the unit.

I get this on occasion, but usually only after playing a simulated round in WGT. What seems to fix the problem is to close the ST and WGT apps then restart ST.

Yeah i have read about the curtain and I think that might be what's wrong with mine. Looks like imI'gonna have to send it in for repairr... That sucks that I'll be unable to hit balls at home for probably a month or so, hopefully less.

Jskd, did you try flipping the unit like we suggested?

Yes I tried left handed also but got no reads as well... Got an RMA and sending it in for repair.... seems odd that they are having me ship it to a 3rd party computer repair shop instead of them fixing it themselves, or since my unit is so new they should just give me a brand new one to replace it.

Cheaper business practice for them to contract out the repair work. That would be my guess. No need to keep someone(s) on staff to do it. Pay, benefits, SSN taxes, etc..

Fairly typical to replace your unit with another repair unit. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I can see them contracting it out to a repair company as that is what a lot of major tool manufacturers do as well. I guess I have a salty taste in my mouth after spending $2k and having the unit break in such a short span. I can see why the warranty is only 6 months or 25k shots.... They just offered me to have my unit replaced with a "certified pre-owned" unit after they inspect mine for physical damage, or wait for mine to be repaired. I'm not sure what to do, it sucks having to wait up to a month or maybe more to get mine back but I don't know if I want a refurbished model either, not knowing what that one has previously been through

I agree. I would be pretty salty as well. I would wait personally. It being almost summer. I would hate to get someone else's POS.
