  • Issues with shot height

as the title says, i have issues with shot height.

My ST show my shots with a much lower trajectory compared to real life.

i have adjusted the height compared to the surface of the mat but it changes nothing. All shots comes out low compared to real life.

    any advice?

How are you measuring your real life shot height? Or are you talking about launch angle?

      Launch angle, correct.

Are you measuring launch angle by hitting into a screen and measuring the impact spot and back calculating it using calculus or is it just a visual thing on the screen?

I have also noticed that ST gives a lower flight than in real life - mainly with longer clubs (3H, 2H, 3W, Driver) for me. In my case, it was in comparison to actual ball flight while at night at the range (e.g., I can see my ball going higher than ST reported).

I’ve experimented with different mats and noticed different launch angles based on the surface. To determine if your SkyTrak is truly to blame, bust out some old school Trigonometry! Measure ball to screen and then where it hit to the same height as the center of where the ball was hit from (may be higher then floor depending on mat size and thickness). Then do your tangent Trig magic to get your launch angle.

Yes, do this. I do it on occasion to check if I had a bad misread.

I am a club fitter and have probably seen like 10000 shots in my flightscope and skytrak and i can for sure optically see the difference between the skytrak and real life.

I can also compare my data between the skytrak and flightscope and its about 3 degrees difference in the data sets. My customers also note that we get low trajectories and a huge amount of roll out.

In real life i have about 8-10 meters roll out on my i5 and in the skytrak its about 20 meters. I play soft tipped graphite shafts for increased height and spin on my i5-i3 and have what is considered a high trajectory. In addition to that i also play a sterling irons that has really low cog.

I first thought it was the mat but it is the same with drivers where the mat isn't in play.

I am absolutely positive that the launch angle is incorrect and my question is more of the sort if there is a trick i should know about or if i should get some serious service done?

Did a side by side (side and behind technically) with trackman . VLA was very close

The measured Launch Angle should be extremely accurate given the nature of a photometric launch monitor. But if you are talking about the shot height in relation to ball flight trajectory, we are actually revisiting our first person camera angle in the next release.

                  Thanks for responding.

No, i am talking about measured launch angle and it is definitely to low compared to real life. I dont really check the graphics, numbers rule when club fitting indoors.

Got it verified with flightscope and also some scratch players hitting 240 meters carry in real life and in my ST they struggle getting 220m TOTAL driving length.

I havent got any tips or tricks in this thread so i will send it in for service.

This may be a silly question, but could you just tilt the skytrak 3 degrees towards the screen to compensate?

I believe Skytrak can compensate for up to 6 degree tilt or roll.

Hmmm, I don't think a mild unit tilt would have that much effect on the launch angle given the internal compensation. If you are getting 3 degrees low launch angle consistently when compared to other launch monitors, then I would suggest sending it in just to be safe. Our launch angle should be extremely accurate.
