I'm glad you figured that out. That little bit of info might save someone else a few days worth of work. Thanks.

On leveling the unit, you can get a level app for your ipad. Would be interested in hearing others' ideas for lining the unit up to a target. Right now, I am using an alignment rod at the side of the unit to align to a point that is parallel to the intended target in the net. The thing that bothers me is that a degree or two off (and I think that's easy to do when eyeballing it) can mean a lit when it comes to launch direction and spin direction. The software issues I am having is that the software will not retain my set changes, session history is storing all of my shots as driver even though I am setting the right club before hitting, the last couple clubs is not on the screen on the edit page and the page will not scroll to even allow me to see it and the session times are not even close to accurate (which isn't a problem but its telling me that there's a data issue with storage). If anyone else is having those issues, please comment so SkyTrak picks up on it, or if you have found a way around it, let me know so I can remedy it. Thanks.

Mike, I am experiencing all of the same software issues that you noted.

1.7 is a very nice update. Thanks for this!

I notice only one new minor bug, the device connection screen for current mode indicates connected or disconnected but not the mode as described or expected (direct or wifi). Would expect both mode and connection status I.e. Direct mode, connected.

Can't find any other issues other than already being noted as pending. The experience is significantly improved and the app is quicker in general.

Looking forward to 1.8 and the high spin flight model improvements!

I'm having issues registering the device from the App. Is there a step by step somewhere??

I think I'm entering something wrong via the Network screen?

Still annoyed at the fact that I can't save my session settings for the next time.

Has anyone gone to the numeric display screen and hit the skytrak symbol and get someone else's readings? Not sure what that is all about.

Mine does that, too. I bet it is a programming backdoor to allow them a quick way to view shots for marketing photos, testing, etc. Probably forgot to kill it when they released the app.

Related note- is anyone actually able to sync? Mine still just spins the little dial icon and says "waiting to sync" all of the time.

Also, my account still says expired on the skygolf site, and now I can no longer access the wind speed, turf conditions, etc. that were part of the upgrade package. Anyone else have similar problems?

Edit: (see answers in post #1119 of main skytrak thread) Seth answered these questions at the same time I posted this.

                  Here's a few answered questions:

                  - Let me explain the how the network connection works in the hopes that it may alleviate some of these difficulties. Also, you should see improvements/simplification of these processes in v1.7. v1.8 will be enhanced further.

So for now, there are 2 ways of connecting:

                  1) Direct mode - this one is easy...you simply connect your iPad to the SkyTrak unit by selecting it's SSID from the WiFi list.

                  2) Network Mode - What you are doing here is connecting to the SkyTrak unit THROUGH your router. In other words, both SkyTrak and your iPad are connected to the network. On one hand, the network provides internet access to the iPad. On the other hand, the network also serves as a bridge to connect the SkyTrak unit and the iPad. So in the app when you choose network mode, the reason it walks you through the direct connection first is because you have to tell the SkyTrak unit the correct network to connect to and give it the credentials to do so. In v1.6, you had to then go back and connect your iPad to the network. In v1.7, it does this automatically.

                  - A future update will show which mode the unit is connected in.

                  - Also about the SkyTrak logo in the upper left...we made that a hot button to fly a shot for demo purposes.

                  - You will be able to save session settings soon.

                  - Now there is 'Alignment Mode' in settings. You use this to align the UNIT (not hit shots). Go to settings and turn on Alignment Mode so that you can more easily sight the unit to a target. Then turn it back off to hit shots.

                  - We will be beefing up club management soon as well.

Thanks for the good info, Seth. I don't know if you saw it above, but please note that if your home router is at 10.0.0.1, Network Mode does not work until you change your home router IP address to something other than 10.0.0.1. This was the root cause of all of my connection issues, and I was able to duplicate the problem on two different routers.

Seth, Is there any margin of error when aligning and leveling the unit? Does it have to be exact? Doesn't the accelerometer calibrate out these errors?

Got mine for Christmas too. It really is a wonderful device and the v1.7 of the software is pretty good. Connecting to the home network was a breeze!!!

Just a few "bugs" in the software to report:

                        1. Club management - when you add a club it can't be accessed as you can't scroll down to see all the available clubs. In fact I'm not sure it is even adding it to the list because you can scroll down to see the full list of clubs.
                        2. Numeric display - doesn't show the correct club being used. It is defaulted to the 3 wood and doesn't change.
                        3. Session History- doesn't show when you change clubs but records all shots against the first club used in a session.

Given that all of the above software bugs don't really impact the use of the device, it is great at the moment. Would be good though to get the above fixed as it does impact post practise analysis when trying to compare clubs etc.

A couple of suggestions for additional functionality:
                        1. Being able to delete bad shots so they don't impact analysis later.
                        2. Being able to "tag" shots (both good and bad) so that they can be highlighted for later analysis.

Basically everything is great, just the stats/history part of the app needs work. Though not critical it is an important part of the app as post practise analysis is a key reason most people would use this.

Lastly, I can't wait for the protective shield/case as my 5 and 8 year old absolutely love hitting with the Skytrak in place, though it is too risky at the moment given the abilities

                        Thanks

For anyone having trouble with syncing with SkyGolfs servers I found that deleting the app from your device and reinstalling it allows it to sync successfully. Note that you will lose your previous history and club data

Does that automatically reinstall with 1.8?

Seems like I spoke to soon. I hit a few balls today and it refuses to sync with the 360 server.

Please see my review of the SkyTrak app version 1.8 in the Apple App Store. Version 1.8 deletes all History past and future, and turns the SkyTrak into a Live Session only device, requiring screen shots to save your data. Wait for 1.9 or 2.0, unless you want to be taking screen shots. SkyGolf360 syncing is still non-existent!

Thank you for the info, I wish I had found it sooner and I could have saved a lot of frustration with uninformed SkyGolf reps. I thought it had something to do with the inability of SkyGolf to correct the status of my account showing as expired despite just having purchased this somewhat more expensive device.
