-- Added a "Center" reading for side angle and side spin when it's under certainparameters.
-- Improved multi-player challenges so that you'll be able to see markers for other player's shots.
-- New battery indicator logo, and warning.
-- New data sync status indicator.
-- Added a toggle to jump between Side Spin and Spin Axis.
-- Simplified and improved the connection flow.
    -- Other enhancements and improvements.

In January we'll submit V1.8 to Apple which will include:

-- Improvements to the flight model and club head speed for high spin shots.
    -- Further ground physics improvements.
-- Adding the altitude and temperature to the settings.
-- Improved ball trajectory on the range.
    -- Activate ground firmness options.

I am glad to hear that you figured things out finally!!!
Your efforts made users' knowledge base bigger. Thanks!

Thanks for the extra tips, but I'm still not connected. I used the "done" button, and I don't have address filtering active on my network. I checked into every setting on my router and I can't find any reason why it still will not work. The iPad is connected to network "a" and the Skytrak is also connected to network "a." I don't know what else to check other than buy a new router. Anyone else using a netgear wndr3700v2 router and getting it to work? If both iPad and Skytrak show up with a valid IP address on the same network, what else could be the problem?

I am not a tech guy much, so don't take my words seriously. But, to me, The ipad is connected to skytrak and skytrak is connected to network 'a'. That means ipad is seeing the world via Skytrak. As you can see in my youtube video, I started with my network 'a' and then go to 'skytrak', but I didn't go back to my network 'a' on my ipad. This video was for the first time set-up. Once it is set up, for a new session all I have to do is I have my ipad connect to 'skytrak' and and open the app and log in. That's pretty much it. My humble 2 cents.

Hello Rob, if you try to connect to your Skytrak via a web browser, port 80, you should get a network config page which should at least tell you it is using your router fine. I would also test this from your ipad safari to see if your ipad can route to your Skytrak successfully.

The ST app on your ipad will scan your network looking for a device with an open UDP port 5023 or 5024 (I forgot which) to initiate the connection. I guess it is possible your router is suppressing ARP broadcast messages or blocking the UPD traffic for some reason.

Have you tried resetting your router (not rebooting) to factory defaults? Usually with a pin you can press a button which will completely reset your router. Before doing this, make sure you know how to reconfigure your router so you don't lose your internet access. Also I believe you said you already checked and you don't have any MAC address filtering or other security based rules that would prevent the skytrak from connecting?

Other options... if your router isn't already doing it, try a standard network like 192.168.0.0 and a standard IP for your router such as 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. The Skytrak *should* pick all of this up via DHCP when it gets an IP address from your router but who knows...

May help for you to post some of your internal network configuration settings which may give some idea to the issue. Just don't post your external IP, although even that isn't that big of a deal.

Edit: Also, if you feel all hope is lost and ready to purchase a new router, you could try installing DD-WRT on your router which basically replaces the firmware with a custom one. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR3700 Follow the instructions carefully and be careful as this can brick your router.

And another thing to try would be to try someone else's router. If you see the same behavior, then maybe your Skytrak is sick or something.

            sb81,
thanks for the additional details on how this thing is actually communicating. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out armed with this info. I'll update you once I have a chance to play with it again this weekend

Did you make sure you are using the 2.4GHz band? The 5GHz didn't work for me, I had to use the slower 2.4GHz band.
This is how I did it, from memory:

              1. Turned on skytrak and ipad is connected to wifi.
              2. goto ipad wifi setting and look for a network that has the SKYTRAK name in it
              3. Launch skytrak app and press connect on the app
              4. once it's connected you can select to connect via wifi
              5. You will see a setup screen where you have to type your 2.4GHz network name, hit DONE
              6. Select the proper security protocol you are using
              7. Type in password, hit Done
              8. the screen will tell you to go back to the ipad wifi setting and select your normal 2.4GHz home network (it doesn't always tell me to do this, I just do it anyways)
              9. Once you connect to your home network, your skytrak unit should also connect and all the LED lights should be green

I sure hope this helps because I know it's frustrating as hell. There are no debug options and the software just expects it to work. I don't even know where I can get some support. I'm not too please with the level of available support for something that cost thousands of dollars.

i'm finding myself having to reenter the network info everytime I turn on my ipad after the process for the app is destroyed.
I thought this info was saved into the unit itseld? I also have to log in to the app everytime. is there a way around this or a config file that we can set just once?
I would rather just turn on the unit and hit

destroying process of app: double click home button, select app and push up to destroy process

how important is targetline alignment and leveling of the unit? I've noticed when I turn on the left/right sensors I was grossly misaligned. I found it very difficult to align this unit on the mat and it moves around when I move my feet. It would work better if the unit can be placed further away so it doesn't have to be on a mat. I think this might cause problems is these two things are important to the accuracy of the capture. The engineers might have decided to put it closer because it requires less light to get a good capture? I don't know.
I use LED shoplights in my garage. Will more lights help? I'd like to see images that it actually captures to see if it's getting a good capture. Is it focused? Are they drawing accurate lines across the ball? These debug tools would really help. At least offer the ability for us to send this data to the mfg in the background for your engineers to debug.

I don't think the ST will be able to allow unit to be placed farther away. More light shouldn't make a difference. I doubt they will allow one to view captured images. Most (exceptMartin at GSA) companies don't reveal these proprietary items. I can't think of one company that actually allows their users to view the captured images other than GSA.

Speaking of Martin is his club cam any good or is it an unfinished product like most of his projects. I hope its ok so ProTee can some day copy/improve it

I'll be seeing Martin in Feb so I can test it. As far as I know everything is a work in progress and can be aborted as quick as the Flash!

Accusport Vector Pro allows you to see both images as well as show what they think the line through the ball is and allows you to make correction if the software made a mistake. This manual calibration if you really want it is there and will provide very accurate results. Most of the time it's good enough but sometimes you just want to know exact numbers if you need it. Both machines take two pictures. Vector uses two cameras (top and bottom) and I'm assuming ST uses one because it's can capture faster ad probably has a wider angle. It basically does the same thing. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I don't really know for sure. Making these debug tools available really helps the users and especially fitting professionals to dial in their customers and feels confident in their measurement tools validated by these images. It will certainly reduce the amount of customer support/calls needed which in turn allows ST to sell a superior product, more user friendly, and reduce the amount of time they need helping customers. Let the customers help themselves so they understand the product better, which will help the customer maximize this tool. The tool is only as good as the user's ability to use it. That's my rant/justification for needing it.

I stand corrected. Your right, the Vector did allow for this.

                              ST uses 2 cameras.

I finally have my wifi connection working, and it is a SkyTrak issue. I verified and duplicated the problem on 2 different routers (a belkin and a netgear).
In summary, the wifi method will not work if your router is already set up with 10.0.0.1 as its IP and gateway. Any other IP/gateway on the router seems to be fine from SkyTrak's perspective.

I think the cause of the problem is that the SkyTrak broadcasts its internal network as 10.0.0.1, and it sets the iPad as 10.0.0.100 when it connects. I don't know the technical reason, but it seems like the SkyTrak gets confused... since it is broadcasting its own network as 10.0.0.1, if you then connect it to a router that is also broadcasting as 10.0.0.1, it must never flip some virtual switch or reset, etc. I'm not a network guy, so can't comment on the details here, but this is what it seems like to me.

I was able to make the SkyTrak work on a 192.168.2.1 lan ip and a 10.10.0.1 lan ip on both routers that I tested. I was also able to make SkyTrak fail on both routers when I set them up with a lan ip of 10.0.0.1. To remedy the situation, I changed all of my home devices from 10.0.0.x to 10.10.0.x (which was a PITA, since I assign several static ip's to my server/dvr/htpc setup). After the change, everything worked just fine with SkyTrak.

Seth and SkyTrak need to take a look at this. I think the 10.0.0.1 setup is fairly common, and it seems that anyone running that LAN setup is going to have issues with the SkyTrak.

sb81, because of this I did finally take the time to install dd-wrt. I have been meaning to install that or openwrt for a couple of years, but just never got around to it. So, I at least got that benefit from all of the wasted hours.

                                  Dear TorchRedRod,

I am facing the same problem of connecting SkyTrak in network mode.
Can you help me with some step by step tips to get it connected to the network? I don't use router...I am using mobile wireless broadband for all my home devices.
                                  Best regards...
