  • Skytrak 4.0 Update

I watched the Par2Pro video on youtube showing off the new graphics for Skytrak. The rep mentioned that we should see an update to 4.0 in February. Since we are mid-April now, should we expect an update to 4.0 soon? Did I miss it?

Also Question regarding R-Motion integration. Are we getting closer to integrating R-Motion without the need for having TGC? It would be great if we could get that built into the practice range so we can get club head data.

My guess is they haven't found a solution to the high ball speed problem yet.

Haven't heard a peep out of Skytrak.

The silence and presumed failure to correct the issue makes me wonder if the inaccuracies noticed with higher ball speeds may be a limitation of the hardware rather than software.

They've already mentioned on this forum that the 150+ ball speed issue is hardware.

I was hoping that the software would fix the issue

I saw the video...I did not think the grahpics looked that much better.

Really? I thought they looked much better than the prior software version.

On another note, I really wish I could integrate something like ProTee's base sensor into my hitting mat so I could get club data. Technically, Optishot should work, but you have to tape your clubs (which I'm not sure how ProTee doesnt require that if its basically the same tech)

Right now, I think Skytrak is poised to make some big improvements in the next year or two, which makes me hesitant to buy any aids, analyzers, etc. I originally was looking at integrating SkyPro, but after seeing some serious issues with angle of attack compared to GC2 with HMT, I don't think its going to give me the information I want.

I'd really like to see some form of add-on HMT technology for SkyTrak. Pending price, I'd be very interested in buying that... ST would almost certainly undercut Foresight big time.

Skypro does a great job tracking the club pre-impact. Early on, tonnes of users (myself included) complained that it showed going inside on the backswing, when we werent'. But every single time, it turns out that Skypro was correct. It is much easier than video to figure out what your club is doing at different points in your swing, and that can be really useful for those who know how make use of the data.

In terms of impact, the club head speed is quite accurate, but AoA is not. I tested it against trackman as soon as the feature was added, but it wasn't accurate enough.

Right about now, I'd like to at least see the 3.4 version come out with the detailed club bag you can enter, rather than the way it is set up previously. That version seemed to be ready to go at the show, with 4.0 coming out with the better graphics later. Seems to me they are struggling with something. Who knows. Regardless, I really appreciate the upgrades that have come through in the last year or so - hopefully it's not too much more of a wait.

SkyTrak_Seth can you give us users any hint on time frame?

I'd like to also just send some positive vibes to the Skytrak team. I think a lot of us here, can loose sight of the bigger picture. At what point in your early life did you think you would be able to afford a golf simulator, much less, a one that is as competitively priced as a Skytrak? Some of us have a good deal of expendable cash, and most of us I would say, likely don't.

I think it speaks to the quality of the team at ST that they are constantly trying to improve and release new software. Think of the older sim packages out there... Many of them were what you buy you get and the only way you were getting something updated was to buy something else.

I'm sure they are dealing with limitations both on the software and hardware front, but are trying to make significant changes to continue to provide value to users. Good luck guys, and thanks for continuing to improve your product.

Sure, but that doesn't excuse their horrible customer service. The SkyTrak firmware and software are bugged, and have been for months. Their tech support is horrendous. I haven't spoken to a single SkyTrak employee that had any idea what they were talking about, they don't respond to posts on their support forum, they don't call or e-mail to follow up with support tickets, and they have completely disappeared from this forum because they don't want to be help out their customers due to the risk of exposing their own incompetence. So, yeah, they could be doing a lot better.

I had no problems with skytrak or their customer service. They were my entry point into simulation and will always be grateful. I still miss the range and all the extras. My outdoor golf game improved immensely and I can't thank them enough.

It’s been a few years but did 4.0 ever get a release or are we now looking at 6.0?
