Sometimes, I think we golf too much! It's a very, very small change that will only be noticeable in a small subset of light chip shots. I don't really want to get into the technical/dev stuff here, but it's an easy fix. Something that got changed as a result of changing something else - I'll leave it at that.

I honestly wish I could give you a date, or even a guesstimate. But given the nature of software development, I just don't think it is wise at this time. I can tell you though that we are hitting shots now on both PC and Android in-house. Given that we are shipping very soon and the team is fully invested in providing you the best experience possible on iOS at launch, I would probably say it's safe to look at a new iPad if you want to use SkyTrak as soon as you receive it.

Hey SkyTrak,
Can it read "almost golfballs"? I don't necessarily need it to translate that ball data into approximate real ball data (though that would be nice) but if it can at least read what a simulation ball might do would be helpful for those that might be confined to a small space some parts of the year...not to mention not breaking everything in the house.

I am extremely impressed by the fact that Seth monitors and is engaged in the forum. Thanks Seth for taking the time and answering questions and looking for feedback. Just the fact that you come here gives me confidence I made the correct decision in pre-ordering and am quite sure I will be happy with my purchase. Now it's time to get my indoor golf building transformed and watch the snow fly as I hit balls!!!!

Skytrak is WiFi not Bluethooth? I understand the need for WiFi for playing against others online but what about simply using it in my indoor setup? Why is an internet connection necessary to hit balls? Sorry for the naivety.
I planned on having WiFi in my setup eventually but had that on the back burner during my build but as the ground freezes If WiFi is an absolute necessity I better change my priorities and start running a line!

You don't need an Internet connection (although you can connect that way) to use SkyTrak, you can connect directly to the iPad via Wifi.Originally posted by DougieMn View PostSkytrak is WiFi not Bluethooth? Wifi is used instead of Bluetooth because of the amount of data that needs to be transferred from the SkyTrak unit to the iPad which would take about 10/20x longer over Bluetooth.

Zmax - Let me look into it. Just as a quick heads up, we do use dimple detection for spin, but if you are super-concerned about the spin readings, I would advise facing a mark (like the logo) on the ball towards the system prior to hitting. Again, not necessary, but I use it to be safe during testing.
Does the logo factor into the spin calculations? Would accuracy/reliability of the readings improve if one were to mark up the ball?
