I have to admit, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on the pre-order if it wasn't for ZMax and Bubba22. Their observations with the p3pro over the last few years have aligned with mine, so I trust that if they are okay with Skytrak, then I would be okay with Skytrak. So, its all on them, no pressure
Couple of questions:
Is the 5 hour battery rating accurate?
How long does it take to fully charge?
Is the battery user replaceable?
Can you use it while it is charging?
How much light is required (can you use it in a dim room with a projector running)?
Is there an ETA for PC and android version? Is it currently in the works? (can we beta test it
)
Could I use an ipad mini, or even an iPhone? Is the screen size an issue?
What's the ETA on the shield? How far in fromt of the ball is the device? Do you ever have concerns of a stray ball striking it?
Do you ever have any stray "WTF" readings on it from time to time like with the p3pro?
How exact do you need to align Skytrak to your target line?
How long does it take from impact to on-screen results? (Is there a huge difference from earlier generations of iPad?)
Do you ever have to wait to hit the next shot?
Any issues with using a non-standard golf ball i.e. yellow range ball with faded logos?
Are there any operational issues that are a PITA?
Besides potentially the PC/Android version and sim integration, what else are the developers working on?

IMO, a 20 yard chip is not a soft chip. For me a soft chip is 8-10 feet. If your TM can register those consistently, in terms of speed, spin, LA, and path, then I stand corrected.Originally posted by Dax View PostYou are correct provided that a soft chip is defined, as for me 20 yards is a soft chip. In terms of Skytrak have you been able to test or see what the lowest yardage might be? Is the limitation the vertical launch angle?
The LA is not the problem. It's just doesn't detect soft chips.Last edited by Maverick; 10-19-2014, 09:38 PM.

5 hour battery is about right
Charges fairly quickly
Battery not user replaceable
It on nets to computer to charge and while so it can connect to iPad, do yes.
No light requirements
Not sure ETA for pc or android
I use anipad 4th gen so mini should work but havent tested
Not sure ETA of sheild. Unit a 1-2 feet away. Not worried about stray shot.
Occasional WTF reading but minimal.
Laser Targetline assist but havent seen it in the IPad app yet.
Impact to screen slow but supposed to be faster with latest upgrade.
Short wait to hit next shot.
No issues hitting non-standard ball or limited flight ball.
No operational issues.
Not sure what else they are working on.
Let me caution folks that ZMax and I don't control most of these things. Especially their integration to software. They are supposed to integrate with E6 which wouldn't be my first choice given TGC and ProTee.

No. Most limited flight balls do not work 100%. Almost Golf balls will work with wedges only. Jeff World solid golf balls work with wedges and some ions. Brush tee balls work good overall but can be loud and they will leave sharp edges when used with wedges.

Very interesting point. I would have guessed more than 9 months myself. I didn't see any mention of any of it on the skytrak site. I may of missed it. Overall though, I think if you know what this product is and what's it's currently meant for, it will probably be a good product. People expecting simulation by xmas will be supremely disappointed..i would guess.

Look at the TGC/ProTee integration. You got the best people involved here and it's taking sometime, which btw, is super sonic speed in terms of golf simulator industry speed.

Unknown how long it will take for Skytrak to add simulation. We don't control those decisions. The TGC/ProTee integration is moving along at super sonic speed as ZMax says. It awesome! Pretty sure that Skytrak integration won't be this quick.

I would imagine its going to take forever for SkyTrak to do simulation if it cannot read putts. Assuming they need integration with another product like Protee sensor as mentioned before.
Personally, I'm going to be using SkyTrak as a training tool for practicing and shot shaping. For at home practice, it seems like the best product now available, at least at this price point.
When the time comes that I can invest in simulation, I see myself buying a GC2, or comparable-future-tech, with Protee software.

I downloaded the current SkyTrak Golf app on my iPad 2nd generation, it installed fine, but wouldn't load. Hopefully the final version will work on all ipads, even if at slower speed. Not sure if it works for iPhone, since the current app is listed in the iTune Store as "iPad only" and wouldn't even install on the iPhone.Originally posted by nyb72 View PostCould I use an ipad mini, or even an iPhone? I'm also very tempted about pre-ordering this as a training tool. I'm also a club ho and would love being able to compare different clubs at home. Having simulation capability would be a bonus, but not sure if it's worth another $3000, which then gets the whole package much pricier and closer to the GC2 territory, which is the main reason why I haven't bought the GC2.
Since there's so much focus on simulation, I haven't heard much Bubba22 or ZMax comparing this to the Flightscope Xi as a launch monitor and training tool. Now SkyTrak is out, is there any reason anyone should spend $1000 more to buy the Flightscope Xi?

Aside from the differences in space requirement of the Flightscope Xi vs the SkyTrack's zero requirement, I can't tell you much as I've never used an Xi.
The iTunes app is version 1. They have since moved away from delivering the app through iTunes. Current version is 10.
