  • It is not that accurate. Personally I wouldn't place much faith in any club attachment devices. They can potentially and theoretically integrate but not sure they will.

Guess another idea that is good in theory but doesn't work in practice

      • The Skytrsk unit performs well. It's not perfect but very good. The pros are it's accuracy, price and portability. The cons are putting and soft chips (although latest firmware soft chips were better), lack of simulation and lack of pc and android platform. Simulation and pc/android platform will most likely come but what is unsure is when and which sim software. E6 most likely but any others? Who knows! Obviously I have not tested the simulator component. The weakest measurements are the horizontal azumuth which most floor based launch monitors tend to be weaker. The published accuracies are about right. It measures spin and spin axis well. I have tested on range, indoor against Trackman and indoors aginst ProTee. As a launch monitor it performs well. Software updates are hopefully soon to come. As a simulator it's yet to be tested. TGC is by far the best sim software on the market and certainly had the highest potential. No word of Skytrak snd TGC.

        • Nice review bubba22. Much more diplomatic than I would have been, which is why I'm not doing one. I will agree with you about TGC. Best sim software that will be available very soon. Best graphics to date.

              Zmax,
Is is the lack of simulator options and software that would be the main reason for your "lack of diplomacy" if you were to do a review?

With winter fast approaching in the midwest, all I'm looking for from Skytrak is to give me ball flight feedback when I maintain my swing indoors or in a dome. Have no interest in simulation. Based on what I'm reading, I'm assuming that Skytrak would do the trick at great value? Are there any potential issues that would prevent me from using it for my particular scenario?

Thought of another question, if you're hitting at a screen/net, what is the minumum amount of space you need in front of the device for it to record the ball properly?

              • Ya, that's part of it. It will do fine for what you need. Accuracy is good with the big clubs and irons then start to taper off starting with wedges. Full wedge shots are decent.

There is no space requirement. It measures everything within a foot or two after impact.

And the app still needs some work.

                • If Skytrak couldn't come to terms with ProTee how is TGC even a possibility? Let's remember who has the SDK. IMO, these guys blew it. I've seen promises that go no where in this industry and they aren't even making promises. It's a LM, that's it. Base you purchasing decisions on that and that alone. If you happen to have the option down the road then bonus but I would drop my coin hoping a feature will be available. If all you want is a LM then it's probably a good option.

                    Thanks for the reply Zmax!

Does that mean something, like say, a 25-50 yard half wedge shot isn't accurately recorded?
Basically does this take short game practice out of play?
Is this an issue with ballspeed or launch angle or something? Is it fixable with firmware/software updates in the future?

                    • Out of curiosity, I was checking out the Japanese distributor Skytrak page. There are screenshots of a PC version and pics of accessories like shielding

                      • Pc/android versions will likely come. As a launch monitor it's good. Where it goes with software development or partnership is unknown. As far as I know there is no plans for Skytrak and ProTee or TGC. That's too bad!

                        • nyb72,

Ball path is the biggest issue with wedges. Closest to the pin with wedges might no be fun. Not sure if its fixable. Distance is good.

!! Sounds like it wouldn't be fun in sim either.

Is this saying that ball path gets more inaccurate the higher the launch angle?
