Hey Zmax, I've been a lurking guest for as long as this forum has been online, or since the incident on the other forum happened.
I'm still obsessed with simulators/golf in general and I thought I'd finally interact again and trade knowledge/socialize.
Truly jealous of the TGC stuff tho, man that looks good. Part of me wishes I didn't sell my Protee to Craig, but I do love my Flightscope too. Maybe they'll get TGC and we can all have fun.
Glad to see you're still fighting for the simulator advancement. You too Bubs.

Hi Spudly, I am planning to build a shield for the unit that incorporates a leveling base. I have lots of machine tools and tooling. I was curious if you could take a picture of the "lens" area of the unit. I am curious what the dimensions are of the actual optics that have to be exposed, versus the entire plastic strip. Or perhaps you could measure the sizes of the actual elements. I was hoping to go the gc2 route and just have small openings for the lenses vs shooting through an acrylic sheet or something.

Forgot to ask my general question as well. Does anyone know where the unit does the image processing? The GC2 has that screen on the unit that displays ball data so the image analysis must be handled in the unit itself. Does skytrak do the processing onboard or does it transfer imagery to the ipad and let the ipad do all of the actual heavy lifting? Mainly curious as to the source of the delays in shot to show and to see what data is actually being passed over usb/bluetooth/wifi.

Welcome Goatbarn. Your input here is very valuable. How's th Flightscope? You should put some pressure on them to integrate with TGC. Like ZMax says, you will be playing with us online very soon. Keep posting here as lots of cool changes are happening.

All right, I went to the range and hit a few, not easy it was friggin cold out there, I think about 30 deg. Sorry I have no video, nobody else was dumb enough to be out there and the range kid was not leaving his warm office area.
The unit is still very accurate as far as ball flight, everything I hit from draws to fades showed up perfectly in tune with the unit. The only exception were a couple of really bad slices combined with a big inside out push that the unit failed to really show how far I hit it right with my driver. When I miss right sometimes it can be really bad! As far as the balls themselves, it was hard to tell, for one these are range balls, I did notice the spin was a little less compared to my Pro V1's from yesterday, but the difference between warn and cold balls was not really noticeable.
ZMaxx and others here can probably go into detail on this, but I think it has to do with the limited space that the unit is calculating in. factors such as temperature, humidity, and wind are not affecting that brief moment when the unit is doing its work. I think these types of factors are more present in doppler units. The cool thing is that you can adjust humidity and wind in the app itself to reflect your conditions.
Sorry again on the video, but it was too dam cold, I can say the unit works in that temperature though.

Goatbarn is that really you? Who could have known Protee would partner with TGC and have over 25000 courses available? Hind sight is 20/20. Just so you know your old Protee is holding up well (except for the accident with the putting sensor coupler..... but I digress) Good to hear from you again and welcome.

I still don't have a TN. I was hoping to see version 1.6 on the app store today and some units getting shipped but its still version 1.5. I'm not expecting anything until next week now with Thanksgiving and everyone stuck in a turkey coma for a few days.Originally posted by Bubba22 View PostMy experience on th range is its accurate. Obviously the weather, range slope, humidity etc will affect the carry.
By the way, anybody else get a tracking number?

No, you cannot see it, even with a good flashlight you cannot see inside of that clear area.
