  • Could Tees Cause Mis-Reads

Greetings, I am brand new to the site and to having a golf simulator. I viewed this site extensively when building mine and I have been up and running for about 3 weeks. I have a SkyTrak and am hitting from a Country Club Elite mat. My question is I do get some mis-reads when hitting with driver. I am using Birtee tees that sit on the mat, rather than using real tees that I stick into the mat. Do you think that the tee flying in front of the cameras along with the ball could be causing this? Thanks, I appreciate all the posts and the helpfulness of this site.

What color tee are you using? What numbers are you seeing that you think are bad?

I think I read that a white birtee impacted skytrak. I may be mistaken.

Can't speak for Birtees specifically, but when I used regular white plastic tees, they were picked up occasionally, giving obviously whacked readings.

Sorry, yes the tees are white. I get no reading at all. The shot does not register. Thanks.

Yeah, white is a no go for tees and sometimes even the white golf shafts can cause issues. Paint it or trim another color down to the size of the white.

I use the white Birtees with a SkyTrak. I don't get misreads often but I had a friend over who couldn't get a tee shot to register. Switched to a real tee for him and didn't have any issues. I guess it depends on where the Birtee goes when you hit the ball.

Just as a point of reference, I use the big white rubber tees with flat bottom (driving range tees - these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BP1ZK9N) sitting on top of my mat, placed around 1-2" behind red dot, along with half-white driver and white shoes, and only rarely get mis/no-reads with driver (maybe 1 out of 40-50 shots).

Used to use the blue/pink/yellow Tomahawk tees, but they're fiddly to get to stand up straight and harder to find after a shot unless tethered to a Tee Claw cord (which makes them even fiddlier to tee up).

I used to use birtees but use these now. Love them!
