  • How reliable is skytraks club speed reading?

I have a skytrak at home. Friend has a gcquad. Ball yardages are very similar but skytrak tells me I'm only swinging mid-upper 80s on about a 170-175 carry 7 iron. Gcquad shows low 90s.

Obviously gcquad is a whole different animal price wise so I'm slightly inclined to believe it's numbers. Though like I said yardages are very similar

SkyTrak estimates clubhead speed based on selected club and launch metrics. You need to have the correct club selected for it to be close, but it’s not going to be as accurate as a LM that measures CH speed, like the Quad

Ah that makes sense. I almost never select a club. Maybe I should start doing that

I would take the readings with a grain of salt. If you strike it center face, the calculated club head speed is quite close. If you want to know in general, just take the ball speed on your better strikes and divide by appropriate ratio (1.48 for driver etc.).
    Working...
