    Skytrak and fading side-spin

    Hey,

I know this topic has been up during the years but would like to get a new update on what your opinion is regarding sidespin, especially left side-spin.
Somehow i feel that skytrak is abit draw biased, and also im wondering if the Skytrak algorithm takes into account fading side-spin during flight cause of wind etc ?

I have spent several hours last weeks in simulators (trackman 4) outside my own house, and also recently made a fitting for new clubs.
At the fitting i had a dispersion of 7yards on my PW, and around 11 on my 7iron maybe 50-100shots , and most shots was around 6yards off to the right with a small or no draw.

Now when im stepping back into my own skytrak setup i can this wierd 2k rpm left-spin on PW and ball flies 20y left of the target, basically every shot.

    So question.

    1. Fading side-spin in algoritm ?
    2. Is it draw-biased ?
    3. Are side-spin numbers abit exxagerated ?

I have re-aligned my setup with lasertool and everything seems fine.

I might just be bad, and i am.. but this seems abit off.

I tend to get mostly pushes or pulls. If I really exaggerate it, I can make the ball fade. I'm afraid to exaggerate a draw with the unit so close to where I'm hitting.

are you hitting full shots with you PW... Really check and see that you are hitting your intended target on the screen. I find when I really try to juice my PW, GW, and 54, I tend to put too much pressure forward in my stance, causing me to pull it to the left. I know exactly when this happens as I can see that the ball ends up hitting left of my target area on my screen. I know before the ball even shows its launch that its going to be 20 yards or so to the left.

        Hey,

Yeah i tend to hit full shots when im in the simulator, especially new with new clubs. But i will start recording myself also i think, se what might be wrong.
But to the question regarding algoritm and fading side-spin , does anyone know ? Ive read on a few places that it will not fade, but the spin will be constant throughout the shot.

Zero out the unit’s tilt and roll in the app. I can hit fades as easily as draws on ST.

Indoor Swing Syndrome favors pull draws, though, for several reasons. See https://gunghogolf.com/blog/indoor-s...ndrome-skytrak

I have had no problem hitting fades and even slices if needed.

Most of my shots fade or slice. Just like RL

Agree with all the above. The skytrak when setup correctly and aligned depicts all of my IRL shots very accurately. As skeetshooter states above I can generally predict before ball even launches where it will go. This assumes u know yr IRL hits and misses of course. Take skytrak to a range and see if it is accurate

always problem skytrack. i got 2022 version 4.1.0 they said fixed spin decay update. but still all my shot go left with hook spin. but i know my shot just draw or straight.
i many time tried adjustment for thats spin problem. but i gave up...if they not more update of side spin problem. many customer left from this product.

The lack of accounting for spin decay was a software issue in Skytrak range software (now fixed). Skytrak accurately reads spin axis on average (can be off shot to shot). If you get opposite spin than what you expect, it is definitely not the spin decay issue as that just exaggerates existing curvature.

I am not aware of any instances where Skytrak has been proven to give false spin axis. Most often, the unit reads accurately, and for whatever reason, the golfer actually has the shot shape indicated.

Three possible causes of unexpected shot shape in sim:
                      - indoor swing
                      - being offset and aiming at an angle to screen
                      - clubhead-mat interaction (typically grabby mat).
                  Working...
