I didn't see anything in a search so apologies if this has been discussed already. Does anyone have any intel on the $75 Skytrak case being sold on eBay? Is there any good reason to pay $150 for the "official" case instead of saving 75 bucks and just getting this one? Anyone bought one?

There were a couple of forum members that made & sold metal cases since the original plastic case from SkyTrak did not hold up. This may have been one of the earlier metal case design, not positive. If I remember correctly, SkyTrak ending up buying one of the forum member's design and that's what being sold on their site these days. I bought one of the member's case and it's a tank. Bottom line is if the metal thickness is like any of these metal cases, you should be fine.

Cool thanks. I know the Skytrak can be a little sensitive with being level to the hitting surface and what not. So I think I'm less concerned about the durability of the case and was more thinking about how it fits, screws, stays level, allows for accurate readings, etc.Originally posted by frackh View PostThere were a couple of forum members that made & sold metal cases since the original plastic case from SkyTrak did not hold up. (I ordered a skytrak yesterday but without the case. Wanted to put the feelers out for this ebay one first).

I bought the case from Ebay a couple of weeks ago and it is working great. The two minor issues I have are there is nothing to protect the top. I had a ball bounce back off the screen and bounce off the flooring onto the top of my skytrak. I've since put a piece of wood over the top. The other very minor issue is the screw that comes with it doesn't sit very flush on the bottom. It sticks out a bit. So if you wanted to not use the adjustment legs, you wouldn't be able to do this. You have to use the legs for at least 1/4". It also only came with one screw but had two places to screw in. I just bought a screw from HD. The official case from Skytrak looks like it has the handle bent over protecting the top. Mine sits very well in the case and seems to be straight. Haven't had any misreads.

It just arrived in the mail and yes ---- the top part of the unit is left completely exposed. That seems like an odd thing to ignore when designing something meant to protect a $2,000 product. I will also be placing something over the top.Originally posted by Jb50 View PostI bought the case from Ebay a couple of weeks ago and it is working great. The Skytrak has 3 screws on the bottom that I assume are used to secure it in place within the metal case. But this case only has a hole cut out for one of them. And they only supply you with one screw and that screw isn't even the right size. It's way too big.
So I'll place something over the top to protect it, find a screw that's the right size and hope that one is enough to secure it in place. Guess you get what you pay for.

Apologies for bringing back an old(ish) thread. I’m new to Skytak and had already ordered this case before reading your post. My Skytrak just arrived and as an fyi, the black rubber piece on the bottom center of the Skytrak is actually a small plug.Originally posted by 3on3putt View Post

When you remove that it reveals a larger hole that the screw they send then fits.
It doesn’t resolve the open top but should help a bit!

I just got one of these ebay cases and whenthe skytrak is in the case and I hit some short shots it looks like the ball goes a far bit to the right. When I take it out of the case the balls go straight. This is using alignment sticks and the alignment mode each time. I tested this a few times. I don't know if maybe the metal case is slightly blocking the camera?
I've asked to send it back and found a 2nd hand skytrak official case on ebay so ordered that. I bought the skytrak 2nd hand and it came with the plastic case and the screen has a glass screen protector like you put on phones but not sure how much that will protect it.

I noticed my shots go left with this $75 case, and I laser line aligned my setup. This is using Creative Golf 3D. Not sure if it acts the same on Skytrak range mode yet, but will find out soon.Originally posted by delboy View PostI just got one of these ebay cases and whenthe skytrak is in the case and I hit some short shots it looks like the ball goes a far bit to the right. The seller refunded me and didn't want it sent back. I tried so hard to get it all lined up but my shots would go about 8 degrees to the right. I was using short shots to a target line I put in the net.Originally posted by Jeff Tilley View Post

When I use the plastic protective case it's bang on. I only use driving range and game improvement as I hit into a net outside.

I haven’t had the time to take mine outta the case yet, but hit a few shots and putts today that seemed kinda wonky. I’ll have to unbolt it from the floor, then unbolt the Skytrak from the case before I can test Skytrak alone. I’m thinking of trying a piece of lexan in front of the Skytrak, but I believe that’ll make the laser reflect backwards. We’ll see.......Originally posted by delboy View Post
