Love Skytrak! Newbie... from Practice Range to what software?

I just pulled the trigger for new Skytrak a few hours too late & missed their spring sale - but luckily found a used one in great shape, with just the practice range to start, running thru a Surface Pro that I have hooked into a larger monitor. What a great thing for these covid-blues days! I have mine set up outside where it is very shady. I have no idea if the numbers are valid, but they are consistent and make sense. I feel really fortunate to have this thing during this 'no golf or much else' isolation.

I am pretty confused that the USB cord gives such bad results - half of the shots don't get displayed and the ones that do were as much as 70 yards wide (on a 7 iron!). But the direct mode is great, I am getting maybe 1/20 that is either a goofy read or no read, and quick enough that I don't really experience a sense of lag time. So I have nothing but great things to say about mine.

Question... I really like to practice. Would love to see if I am hitting a green. Does the next level up (game improvement) have greens? I tried to look at youtube to learn this but kinda dead ended.

Also, I can't quite figure out how the alignment setting works. I kinda think I am ok just eyeballing the monitor with some alignment rods but am curious how it is supposed to work. When you turn this on, what is supposed to happen?

Finally, I mainly practice with 7 or 8 iron, but being cooped up at home, I'm gonna want to hit driver. My mat doesn't have a hole for a tee and a wooden one won't stick in it. How do you guys tee a ball up? Drill a hole in your mat? Or??

• The USB cord should have absolutely no impact on the ball flight. Due to static, it can lead to no-reads for some users.
• The game improvement plan allows for greens, random practice, KP challenges, long drive competition etc.
• In terms of alignment, I'd just eye ball parallel to case and hit a few chips to physical target (tape on net, alignment stick on ground etc) and tweak the ST until straight shots read straight. If you need to move the ST regularly, you can put some tape or use a market on the ground to so you don't have to do this every time. Don't bother with the built in alignment mode.
• My mat has a hole in it, but google Tomahawk tees and Birtees.

I'm only a couple weeks ahead of you in my purchase of a Skytrak. I also subscribed to Trugolf E6 and happy with the courses it offers with just the basic ($300 per year) plan. I have 37 golf courses (have only played a few so far) as well as driving range, anda game that is similar to Top Golf. I had a friend amp up my computer's gamecard so the image looks smooth on a large impact screen. So far so good!

Thanks! Is there a way to solve the static? And especially thanks for the alignment tip. I am thinking I might just drill/cut a hole in mine..

I think I'd have to buy a new computer...can't tweak a Surface. What do you do the most on your software? I am a range rat, so I may end up being content with just a good practice software, which it sounds like Game Improvement is.
