  • SkyTrak Alignment question

My unit arrived the other day and upon initially setting it up I found like many others say, there was a strong draw bias and I was a bit disappointed. At the range I'd say 80% of my shots are slices and I'm working on fixing that but even if I really focus on trying to rotate the club face and hit a draw, I end up at best hitting it perfectly straight. But on the SkyTrak I would say 80% of my shots were a solid draw...

So I spent some time trying to alight it, got it perfectly level and the bottom sitting even with my mat (had to put it on a 1x12 to get a bit of extra height for the fiberbuilt flight deck). So then I took some advice I'd seen and started doing some gentle chipping and adjusting the skytrak so that when a chip hit the center target on my net, skytrak showed the ball going straight. Took some time but I did this and got it to the point where SkyTrak accurately showed straight / left / right with my chips.

The result of this, however, is that my SkyTrak isn't parallel to ball flight anymore. I'd say it's aimed more towards the center of the net rather than being parallel to a straight shot. Is that right? I kinda figured it should be parallel to target but I have it turned in maybe 5 degrees. It seems like this is doing much better showing my shots as I would expect them, but it seems weird. Curious if anyone else has found this with alignment...

It's not uncommon for it to sit a few degrees off, visually, when reading straight. You did things the right way. Also double-check your tilt and roll. My full write-up: https://gunghogolf.com/articles/how-...n-your-skytrak

Mine also sits slightly closed (pointed to the left and I'm a righty). I have heard of other people having it this way too. No idea why, but this is how it reads as straight.

Clearly internal alignment is off. But if straight shots read straight, you are good to go.

Are you able to upload a photo ideally with an alignment stick in front so that I can see visually how much you've had to turn the unit?

Haven't tried this yet but, can you run a laser butted up to Skytrak and make the distance of laser line to the target line on screen the same as the distance from Skytrak to the red dot? ie..laser line is 14 inches from target line on screen and red dot to Skytrak is 14 inches. Thus Skytrak is running parallel to red dot.

No, because SkyTrak internals can be off from its case. But you can affix a laser to the case, then note how far left or right of the target line it shines when you've perfectly aligned it according to https://gunghogolf.com/articles/how-...n-your-skytrak, and use that spot in the future to quickly align it (eyeballing an alignment rod in the front groove of the metal case and noting where it points relative to the center line on the screen serves the same purpose).
