Skytrak and E6 (demo)

E6 makes everybody a better golfer... Think it's common knowledge that the distances are amped up somewhat. Certainly felt that way to me.

this has to be an issue with the integration with ST as this has not been my experience with e6. I can set the elevation or go with the actual course elevation and would say the driver distances are pretty close to what I get in real life and within my TPS sessions on TM.

That would be the case if skytrak is using e6s ball flight algorithms, as TM uses TMs ball flight algorithm.

Once the ball his the ground then e6s physics takes over.

If that's the case, it would explain the differences.

I found E6 distances were a bit jacked (without any boost) when I played with a Skytrak. That being said, I found skytrak distances short compared to GC2 distances too.

luv2golf - How would you compare GC2 distances to Skytrak and e6? For me, I thought e6 was pretty accurate while Skytrak a bit low.

I find the GC2 distances real close to Skytrak and E6.

I've played a lot on E6 in commercial sims TruTrac. Always found the distances to be on the long side as I do with the ST integration.

You are right it might be with their algorithm if They are using their own when Skytrack is hooked up. E6 uses TM numbers until the ball interacts with something in their environment.

Did you have a question or is this a statement? E6 Beta has been out since October.

There are challenges but you can only participate in the ones hosted at Wade Hampton. Unless you've figured out a way to get other E6 golf courses?

luv2golf, correct me if I am wrong but the E6 demo is a "software demo." My assumption has always been that the E6 Cloud will be something different, most likely a subscription based version of their software.

I was just sharing info from an email regarding the E6 Cloud, which Trugolf had announced it would be rolling out shortly after the PGA show. Thought that some people would be interested if they hadn't seen this info already. I'd like to know more about how the E6 Cloud will work, but I'm even more interested in a ST release of PG.

I have really been enjoying the E6 demo with SkyTrak. I have had good results with chipping and putting. The only issue I have run into is putting from the fringe. That has been a no go for me. Will not register a putt from the fringe. I am sure that is just a putt/full shot/ chip toggle away from being corrected. I rather like the putting to be honest. Love the chip and putt area in the practice section. It is great to set up the different forced carries and pin positions. Really makes you land it in a specific area. ST should implement something like that into the app. The target practice is cool as well. Hopefully ST app upgrade will have this covered with the movable greens.I find my distances to be on the a touch short end with short clubs on e6/ST combo. Not much but. It could be me not figuring the elevation changes correctly. WHampton has a fair bit of up and down. Very excited to have this released. Very interested in the other options that may be available soon.

Is there a thread that gives pros & cons of all the various sims that will be implemented with ST? Thanks in advance.

I have the extender. I ran it and then it says now it's not updated. Any ideas?

The extender only worked until 01/06/16 I believe.

Does anyone else have this issue. When playing E6 demo, many times Skytrak won't read the shot and the red dot just stays there. Then I hit another and it doesn't read again. Finally I have to turn off Skytrak and back on. Then when boots up have to open E6 menu and close it to get the red laser to come back. Then it reads the next shot.

This happens a lot during E6 demo game play.

It's not my wifi or leveling. Both are setup perfect. This also happens when connect via USB.

Wondering if I have a bad unit or if others are experiencing the same thing. Let me know. Thanks!

Sometimes my ST will freeze in E6 and I will do a course fly by or replay of last shot and it usually resets the unit and works fine after that.

This has been happening to me a lot lately. I switched to direct mode hoping the issue would go away, it has not. I try the trick of doing a replay or just entering the menu but the only remedy seems to be a restart of skytrak. Also sometimes a putt won't read (it is on the green) and if smash a full shot I can just take a muligan and the it is fine. One of the biggest issues with restarting the unit is that it always comes back as right handed for one shot regardless of the players dexterity.

Yes, this happens a lot during a round. It makes it difficult to even play sometimes. I am really hoping this doesn't happen with TGC. If it does then I will have to consider GC2.

When playing the demo of E6 with Skytrak the "comet tracer" doesn't work. Is this a known issue or possibly specific to my installation?

My comet tracer works just fine on both range and course. Are you turning it on in the settings?

wbond, yes - it defaults to the comet tracer in the settings. But, when I start to play there is no tracer. The only one that works is the solid line tracer.

This happens on a rare occasion with a putt. The ST will have read it, but it gets stuck somewhere after that. I click the E6 box in the bottom left corner to bring up the menu. Then I clear the menu and the ST resets and I can take the shot again. This happens only with putts and no more than once a session.

Sometimes the ST won't read a chip with my 60° and 64° but that gets fixed by placing the ball forward of the laser a bit then trying again.

It's only a rare occasion for you. This happens 10 times or more during a round. Like I said, it makes it difficult to enjoy playing golf when you have to keep turning off your Skytrak unit and back on. I'm worried about dropping $1000 on TGC and then experience the same thing.

I have the same issue. Are you using the original USB cable? I am currently using a longer one, maybe that is the problem.

I am using the original USB cable that is plugged into a USB extension with booster. But I have this problem when I remove USB and connect via WiFi. I've tested raising the Skytrak and lowering it, and having same height as turf. I also get many misreads using the Skytrak driving range app. Those I don't have to turn off the unit, but the red laser stays there and doesn't read the shot. I understand if this happened once in awhile, but it happens way too often.
