So I received my ST today and love the accuracy/ease of use. However, it makes me nervous having it so close and slightly in front. Anyone have any protection ideas until the protective case is released? I was planning on using it with our First Tee kids but I am holding off until the unit can be protected.

Here is an enclosure I just built. It's not going to win any awards, but it works. I'm going to cover it with turf. I did a video but it was having a hard time uploading. Lexan will work.1 Photo

Maze, maybe a dumb question, but did you remove the protective film from both sides? I think one has the writing and the other side might have a clear film. I think i purchased the same piece from HD but ended up cutting out the window before i even tried using it in front of the lens on the skytrak.
If you did, looks like the lexan is a no-go, at least the one from HD.

Covering the whole unit with some plastic or even glass will not work. Want to know why, try to take a picture with your flash equiped photo camera thru a window at night.
The glass will reflect a significant portion of the light and therefore crete so much noise that the ball will not be visible. For the line laser to work you would need the cover to be optical glass that will not bend the laser at all in any direction.
Only way to create a cover that will stop a ball is to cut out holes in front of the lights and sensors.
I already tried that but would need to spend a bit more time to fine tune it since it did not work with the first try.
But as I wrote in an earlier post, I gave up on that since I really don't think I need it.
If I ever turn it in to a simulator and want to let the kids try, I will have to reopen that activity.
