  • Protecting Skytrak

So I received my ST today and love the accuracy/ease of use. However, it makes me nervous having it so close and slightly in front. Anyone have any protection ideas until the protective case is released? I was planning on using it with our First Tee kids but I am holding off until the unit can be protected.

  • Thinman has got one that hes mad at he might do it.......HA

    • This is what I bought in Japan (heavy thick steel and works great - looks just like MikeAa's design) w/o having to build it myself. Only costs ~$78 (https://cart.sky-trak.com/products/SKYTRAK-PROTECT).

      • Finished my protective box. Thanks to all who helped out with template for cutouts. Going to redo the Lexan plate because of the scratch from my hole bit when I drilled out a pilot hole for the jigsaw. Jigsaw with plexiglass Bosch blade at slow speed cut setting works best. Cutouts work perfectly and all shots register. I can now hit without the fear of damaging my new toy.

            • Necroing this thread here as its the first one to come up on Google when searching for skytrak stl's. I designed a few files to help move the 3d printed skytrak world forward. My case as it stands is based on davray666's design ( wish he uploaded the files for his original). I have a 3d skytrak model I will host on an stl sharing platform as well as a 3d file for davray666's lexan template. I am working out a few details before uploading the files as I just finished the case today.

My case was printed with TPU at 31% infill so it's sturdy but also has give to protect from a wayward ball. 1/4" on all sides and a 1/4" piece of lexan. I plan to use the bottom screws to print a secondary base that will hold an alignment rod and leveling feet. The top cover may go through a revision so as to allow a level to sit on the unit itself and not be thrown off by the printed pieces alignment.

I started this project after reading these old threads and originally planned to go with awisnia's route of metal as I have plenty of it laying around but liked the idea of a lightweight full coverage case more. I do not like skytrak's official metal cover for the price. Not to mention I usually prefer the diy route as it's more fun.

              • Case,template, and leveling base :
This is a basic case for use on an OG skytrak. I wasn't a fan of the metal cases offered and wanted a sleeve style. Base incorporates leveling knobs and is attached to the unit using m4 screws. The top cover with the hole is used in conjunction with a 32mm bullseye level.1/4'' lexan is used for the camera cover and will have to be sourced and cut accordingly. I've included a file to use as a template that matches the size and cuts required. Faceplate and top cover are mounted using 8x m3 screws and 8x m3 nuts. You will need to print 3 of the leveling knobs.

Skytrak model to design your own case:
This is a remake of an OG Skytrak golf launch monitor that can be used to design your own case or accessories. I created this in order to use 3d builder to subtract different pieces from the case I designed. The outer shell is NOT flat, the various parts stick out slightly to be seen properly when using a design program. File is 3mf so various pieces can be ungrouped and moved according to your liking. Case I designed using this file available for free on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6548987
