  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

  • I will put it on detail 1-4 and post a pic of each when I get home, no problem. If that course is already uploaded !

    • ProTee United I have my projector and screen set-up closer to 16:10. Does the TGC software support other resolutions/aspect ratios than 16:9?

Yes, TGC supports ANY resolution and aspect ratio supported by your graphics card and output device (projector/monitor).
Resolutions from 640x480 upto 3840x2160 and aspect ratios 4:3 upto 2.35:1 cinemascope.

That's great news when trying to optimize your screen dimensions. This is a struggle with the IPAD and WGT.

    • Here is an example. The same course with the specs mentioned earlier, but aspect ratios 16:9, 16:10 and 16:12.

      16:9

      • Is TGC optimized to use all 8 threads in a I7 or will an I5 be just as fast?

I have an i7 2600k @ 3.4GHz and it never uses more than 44% of the cpu. So I would doubt that it uses all 8 threads. An i5 @3.4 or more should be plenty. Spend your money on a good video card. Sli and crossfire are not currently supported.

      • So where does it stand with Skytrak and TGC. Who is working on it now, SkyTrak_Seth or ProTee United . I believe the SDK went to protee around 10/21. Is within this calendar year possible?

        • Here is a video recording of the Tomahawk course playing 1 hole against a ghost player.
i7 Laptop with GTX880M. High details. Object detail 1. We will make a similar recording next week from a course with lots of trees.

Make sure you watch in HD 1080p.

Could you please post videos with fraps running so you capture the frames per second? Given there is a noticeable stutter during the drive when the ball is descending, you were dropping below 30 fps. This means that the moment you add trees and bushes, frames per second take a nosedive beyond acceptable levels and we're left wondering about having the right hardware again. Not a problem for those who only want to play links style golf courses.

For those wondering about object detail, I believe it increases the render radius when you up this setting from 1.

Pro Tee United, would you be able to test 'Hitchens Valley Hotel' course, using the same laptop, as it's particularly demanding due to the trees and foliage. As so many people are keen to know if their hardware will play this game, I'm sure you'd like to give them peace of mind.

        • What is object detail anyway?

The smash factor will always read 1.47 (regardless of how well or poorly struck the shot is) if its a SkyTrak being used which is how they estimate club head speed from the measured ball speed.

          • Nice chip!

            • I stumbled upon a youtube video of beta skytrak with TGC. Skytrak users will love TGC. Way better than E6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjNQS3MxO6E

              So much fun.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

              • HarryG Hitchens Vally Hotel is an awesome looking course, BUT the designer has planted way too many trees, objects, plants and bushes. This course was probably designed before there was a limit set on the maximum amount of objects you can place throughout the course. This course performs great when you start TGC on MEDIUM. It will stutter when set to HIGH (on our test Laptop with specs below). For the rest same settings are used.

                Laptop i7, 8GB, GTX880m
                Resolution 1920x1080 / MEDIUM
                Object Detail 1
                VSync ON
                Depth of field OFF
                Anti Aliasing ON
                HQ Tree Count 1000
                HS Tree Distance 614

                    • Thanks for the speedy reply Pro Tee! I'm now of the opinion that the devs shouldn't have allowed for such insane draw distances and calling the setting OBJECT DETAIL was misleading as it implies high res textures to my mind. People with powerful PC's want to be able to play their games with everything maxed out and still get playable frame rates. HB-Studios would have done better to have given more thought to the graphics settings they were letting people tweak, buy hey-ho.

As long as I can get HQ tree count to 2000 and HQ tree distance to 2000 with object detail at between 1-3 and get 60 fps then I'm very happy as I'm using a TV rather than projector and impact screen. For those using impact screens with resolutions lower than 1080p and medium settings then laptops become more tenable.

                      • Anyone purchasing a laptop to play the game would benefit from a GTX980m. That video card is equal to GTX680 which will play the game on high, detail 3. That takes the game from good to great. The 880m is still considered a gaming video card for laptops. Your average laptop will not have an GTX880m.
